We are at present in Oliva near Valencia and the weather forecast does not look good next week. We have another 2/3 weeks left of our 3 month tour and are thinking of heading to Portugal as the weather looks better there. Can anyone tell me a reliable weather app for Portugal also, any recommendations of decent aires/ campsites around the Algarve with dog friendly beaches ?

I think it was Robert Clark who recommended the app Ventusky. It’s great and I use it all the time when away. You can zoom in or out on an area you wish to check, change the setting through a range of options including precipitation and temperature. You can set it to play through the forecast for the next week or two and see how the weather pattern may be changing, or you can just select a day and time.
Here are a couple of images showing Algarve for Saturday morning 10 am, precipitation and temperature.

If using an IPhone you have to turn it sideways to use the ‘play’ feature

Ventusky for me too. Rarely let us down when we use it to decide where to head towards. Gives a rolling 10 day forward forecast, which is useful, but, as with all forecasts less reliable the longer into the future it is.

Good and popular Aires at Falasia, Silves and Alvor for the western Algarve. Avoid Alvor if it’s wet tho!
I’d avoid Mikkis, it’s gone downhill, and rumoured to be being closed down by the council in the next few weeks ?
Top notch campsite at Turiscampo outside Lagos, takes ACSI card. Well worth a stop just to use their facilities which are first class?

Dog aren’t technically allowed on any ‘tourist’ or guarded beaches, but never a problem anywhere off season. also, most bars and restaurants remain Un dog friendly should you wish to go inside. This despite a recent law allowing it, at the premises owners discretion. No problems outside or on terraces tho ?

Enjoy, we’ve lived there over a year now and love it, ( on a small private site at Alcantarilha, ) currently on a short visit to U.K. but be back early Nov?

And dont miss the interior either, some lovely places, plenty of free Aires and exceedingly cheap! It’s still upper 20’s degrees,( although jumper and jeans after 6pm, remember it’s an hour behind spain and is on U.K. time?) and won’t get any real weather to speak of until Feb/March.

While there is never a guarantee concerning the weather, you can often count on better weather north of Tarifa, to Cadiz and across the Algarve.

Are you living in your moho on site? Interesting?
No. Have sited a large 9m twin axle caravan and awning which we live in, and use the camper ( 6m Globescout) to tour in, and as everyday transport ?
