Celtic Rambler 5th Wheel

At the moment we are happily ensconced on a fabulous site in Zambuguiera do Mar on the west coast north of Sagres . As the weather wasnt too good in November when we travelled down, we only stopped once at a good site in Coimbra .
Our plans are to start the return journey mid February to reach our destination of Santander for the ferry crossing on 23 March.
Any advice regarding suitable sites with pitches large enough for our Celtic Rambler Fifth Wheeler and easy access onto the campsite would be greatly appreciated. We would like to include visits to Lisbon and Porto on our way up.
Many thanks for your advice and guidance

Try an aire at Barril de Alva, near Oliveira do Hospital, east of Coimbra.
It’s free to park, €3 per night for electric and €1 for 100 litres of water.

You can easily get your fiver in to park.

There is also a campsite at Arganil by the river. Friends of ours stayed there for some time in their fiver.

Just an add-on. ——- if you do decide to come to Barril de Alva - do not under any circumstances listen to your satnav unless it tells you to come via Coja past the Bombeiras. The other roads are passable but in larger vehicles it is not advisable.

We stopped here for a few days last year, certainly a site with a difference, we really liked it. To the rear of the site are some large pitches with a number of large RV’s all set up for what looked like longer periods than us. Would definitely recommend and will return ourselves.
