Portsmouth Santander Ferry From Possibly Hell (1 Viewer)

Took Tuesdays ferry from Portsmouth , left an hour late. Because of very rough weather overnight ended up being 3 hours late by next morning,
Should have landed by 5.15 UK time actually arrived 8.30 UK time. Ok we thought might still make our stop over point.
Then took nearly 4 more hours to get the doors open
Well they didn't really as we all had to reverse and then do 3 point turns....
Finally off at midnight time so decided to drive south. Found an aire with one other motorhomr parked off the n67 at Formista free of charge and quiet at about 2.30.
Now parked at El Asteral drinking (tea) phew,
Glad we have 4 weeks to get over it!!!

Sounds like it was all a nightmare. Glad you got there safely in the end though.

We have only used the tunnel to date but going to have to use the ferry this year, fingers crossed it will be a smooth crossing and the weather is kind to us.

There is no way of knowing what the sea is going to be like on that route.
We always go From Portsmouth with Brittany Ferries just so we can save the time driving thRough France (Gwen does all the driving and has arthritis in her back so we try to limit driving to 3 hours max per day).
In the last five years we have only had a rough crossing once and that was only for the first 12 hours (mind you it felt like eternity)
Our outward crossing in January and return in early April this year were both like a millpond.
