Is it still possible to park in the lanes late at night ready for early morning ferry please

Usually, yes, you can, if parking after the last ferry departure from the terminal.

However, there's lots of quiet parking a mile up the road at the Port Solent Marina, outisde the David Lloyd Centre. Never had a bad night there although we are usually there in November of December.

We run down and stop at port Solent as Hagstrom says. Shops, bars and restaurants all there but yes you can stay over on the dock after the last boat has left.
