Hi,

Trying to get away for a week or so around the Porthmadog area.
I’m happy to stay in a carpark or on a site if it’s close to something of interest - somewhere to swim, bike or walk - if any of you lovely lot have any recommendations.
I was also wondering if you could also recommend wild swimming in any lakes up there.
Thank you 🙏🏼

depending on when your going, 2 Haven sites close by £20 ish a night in October

Lynn Gwynant campsite
http://gwynant.com/
7 miles from Porthmadog

It's on the banks of Lyn Gwnant, so you can wild swim from your door
It's also on the Snowdon circular cycle route
It's close (by Welsh standards!) to the PYG pub (10 mins by bike to get back, considerably more to get there)
Last week the site was full, but I'd imagine there will be spaces now

FYI, it's only accessible by motorhomes from the Beddgelert (south) direction, if you come from the Lanberis (north) direction you will not make the hairpin turn into the campsite in anything bigger than a car

Thank- you for your responses. I have seen the Harlech one on Park for a night but I haven’t seen the others. I’ll do a bit of research now. Is one of the Haven sites Black rock sands?
I don’t mind being out from Porthmadog. Can you park in Criccieth or Porthclais overnight does anyone know? X

I’ve checked this and it’s still full - definitely one for next time - thank you x
