Does anyone use a portable washing machine? If so are they any good? We are looking at spending longer trips in the van and just wondering about the washing in particular sheets and duvet cover.
Any advice gratefully received.

I bought one at either Aldi or Lidl.
It’s sat in storage since. In all country’s in Europe we have travelled there’s always a laundrette usually attached to a supermarket or on a garage forecourt. Or a camp site usually has them.

I carried one around Spain and Portugal for 10 months and never used it lol

In warm weather I'm a shorts and best top man , easy to hand wash and dry , the rest of the time there's so many laundarettes and you can do a 13kg wash for 4 euros and a couple of euros to dry.

If your using campsites etc possibly a good idea, bit it's drying that's more the issue than washing I've found

We were on the verge of buying one last year before our trip around France and Spain , glad we didn't , as others say, so many launderettes at supermarkets and cheap to use.

I use a Laundrette in Uk and in France most of the Supermarché have washing machines & dryers outside, in the car park you can also find UK style laundrettes in most French towns and of course campsites have machines.
It’s easy to wash the clothes but it’s the drying that can become a bit of a problem.

I use one in my static caravan and it’s very good. I thought I might take it for when I’m working away in the van, but the one I have is really too big. I may just get the spin dryer version, as (as stated above) it’s drying things that is the worst bit, and the spinner works amazingly well.

We have one on board & it's used quite a lot. We are fulltiming and stay on cl' s Most of the time so for that reason it's well handy.

We have the twin tub type and use it all the time when we’re away. The machines look a bit flimsy but are very efficient. The spin dryer spins clothes drier than automatic machines.

We have twin tub, works well far more convenient that using launderettes. Washes & spins well only weighs 13kg.
Have thought about getting one of the small automatics but we only have a 160Lt water tank & they tend to use a fair bit more water.

Also find it more economic, we always find with launderettes the small 8kg washers are in use so you have use the bigger ones which are a lot more expensive. In Austria a few years ago cost us €20 to do a wash.

My problem is the drying - I don’t mind hand washing. I’ve searched high and low for a very small spinner (we have a pvc with not much storage space), cos I think that would really help. I end up with muscles like popeye after a three month trip!

Bucket and a ponch..For clothes,,Laundrette for bedding. No problem drying because we only do sunny climes. BUSBY.

We were really lucky with the weather last year, and even in the UK, drying wasn’t a problem. Good job, as I only took a week’s clothes for each of us!

I’ll probably aim to stay on a site every week or so, but largely because I suspect it will suit me to have a break from packing up and driving every day, and the girl-child can have a couple of days with other children and a pool or playground. Good Motorhome stopovers are almost entirely adult oriented!

You can get single tub versions of the washer/spinners not so convenient for doing a wash but could be ideal for you.
Loads on eBay just search " camping washing machine".

Can I ask Kip, Lenny HB and Southdowners what make you have?

Yes, I bought it on amazon.... this one

COSTWAY Mini Twin Tub Washing Machine (5KG Washing + 3KG Drying), Portable & Compact Washer Spin Dryer, Gravity Drain

We sell a lot of them, and get great feedback. They really do wash very well.

We have one, but its spent the last two years in the shed They are very good but I needed the space for the beer cold box.
We take enough clothes so can go a couple of weeks between washes and then use a site for laundry purposes
