we are going to south if France in August and wondered if there was a portable aircon unit that anyone can recommend please

Portable compressor aircon units are pretty heavy 7000btu about 22kgs . Use about 6amps IIRC Most seem to use evaporative type instead .

Check the power needed - you may find campsite hookup is not powerful enough, often 6 amp. We sometimes have a problem with the fixed hab aircon.

As an aside we bought an "Endless Breeze" 12v fan for when we couldn't use the aircon - so far turned out fine. Big thread about them.
