We tried those silicon pockets for poached eggs they work fine

If you just use a pan of water a tip from a chef before you poach an egg dunk it (in the shell) in boiling water for 15 seconds then when you crack it it doesn't run everywhere in the pan

yes i have one here . about the depth of a frying pan with a separate ally section with four plastic pots for four eggs . its vented so the steam poaches the eggs and a lid to go on the top keeps the steam in the pan.
my mrs used to use it . but she as left years ago.

Well I have a pair of silicone cup thingies for poaching eggs - imagine a bra cup for a small but well formed LOL lady. Put a tiny smear of butter or oil into the cup and smear it all over the inside with a finger, crack the egg into it and float it in a saucepan of boiling water, bung the lid on and wait for 2.5 minutes, look to see if it's completely set, when it is turn the gas off. Lift out, pour off the condensed water gathered on top of eggy and slide the egg onto the toast. Chuck the empty cups in the sink, clean em after you've eaten, gently, with washing up liquid to kill the grease. If you scratch the surface of the silicon - they'll stick to it like sheet - so never EVER use a knife to get anything off silicon.

They were only a couple of quid from I think, Tesco. Excellent !

I use a Perspex egg poacher that goes in the microwave, cost less than £2 from B & M Bargins as recommended by a fellow Funster! Fill the 2 cups with 1/3rd of water and pop into microwave for approx 1 minute, remove and break eggs into the water, add lid and microwave for approx 50 seconds. Timings obviously need adjusting depending on size of eggs and power of microwave. Perfect eggs every time.

Cling film! Rub it with oil, put it into a cup, cracking an egg into it tie it up into a knot. Put in to boiling water lift out onto kitchen paper, snip off the knot with scissors. Never ever soggy toast again ;)

Getting better month by month.
Frying pan with boiling water in and crack the eggs into burger rings to stop the spread of the whites. Remove rings when nearly set, then lift out egg on spatula.

I might get some burger rings. Nice idea.

I find the more expensive the egg the less spread you get anyway.. but generally I put up with a little spread and just use Also eggs.

And you don't pierce the yolks like you have to with other microwave poachers, so lovely runny eggs!

I have been caravanning for 32 years but in 2014 I have"gone over to the dark side"
Agree and a small amount of white vinegar helps bind the white.
With all the so called gadgets & pans for making poached eggs will give you something that no way resembles a poached egg.

Fine if you like a slight taste of vinegar on your poached eggs! :)

..... so am I the only one who loves the blobby bits that get left in the pan & have to be scooped out?

Water, pan and eggs less than 24hrs old.

We only usually poach what has been laid that morning, they are much easier to work with.

Like Delia's way:
break the eggs in to just coming up to slightly boiling water in small frying pan.
Gently poach eggs for 2 minutes, turn off heat and leave for 8-10 minutes depending on how you like your eggs.
This leaves you free to concentrate on whatever else you want to cook.
