Just been asked if my Campervan is registered on my v5 as a motorhome. It's not, it is designated plg. They say if I do not change this to motorhome they cannot insure my mh.
Anyone else experienced this?

It’s only the body type that should say Motor Caravan but some insurance companies require this but not all.

Yes we have experienced this.

Our first van was a conversion of a nearly new pre-registered used van by an established converter. We were the second owners on the V5C. When we took delivery the body type was panel van. Our insurance company was not what happy that the body type was temporarily panel van and took some persuading to insure the vehicle at first.

We submitted the change to motor caravan to DVLA ourselves with all the documentation and photographs provided by the conversion company. This was just at the time that DVLA we're getting stringent about conversions and they refused it at first. This delay caused our insurance company to threaten to remove insurance cover for the vehicle.

We then submitted further documentation and photographs to DVLA and they eventually approved the change to motor caravan.
