I'm still trying to convince my wife we have done the right thing by buying a Motorhome, can someone recommend a campsite in the Sussex area that is within walking distance to town.
My wife's reason for having her reservations is that it's very awkward to take the Motorhome into town and park ( we have an Autotrail Cheyenne 840d twin axle ) so we need to be within walking distance.
The idea of a scooter is not ideal as we have a Boxer dog

Any recommendations welcome

That is the problem with being in the UK, campsites tend to be out in the wilds.
However, if you are brave and hop across the channel (you live not a million miles from a channel port) you will find those wonderful placed called Aires.
We are sitting on one at the moment with a lovely little town not more than a few hundred yards (metres??) away.

Richard.

I'm impressed that you've been allowed to make a major purchasing decision without the wife's full approval - can one apply for citizenship of your planet? :)

How about a couple of electric bicycles with a poochie trailer?

The other option is take a look at GJH's labour of love website on UK motorhome parking: http://www.motorhomeparking.co.uk/ and see how many Sussex towns have something available.

For info you can stop for up to 48 hours in the Canterbury Park and Ride for a few quid and the price includes return bus fare to the town centre, but maybe a campsite would be more comfortable for the first trip.

We always find campsites with in walking distance or on a bus route. Very easy to do, one our favourite is in the centre of Bristol.

If you are in the CCC their weekend meets and most temporary holiday sites are either in a town center or on a bus route. The other idea may be to look at the MCC, their sites again are normally near bus stops.

It's not as bad as it looks at first. Only downside, upside as far as we are concerned is that their is generally no electric, you need to be comfortable using your motorhome facilities. Don't just look at the local groups, in both cases we have been welcome at meets all over the UK
