Whilst I sympathise with people who need to free up assets, I only bought my new to me van a month ago. As l bought privately and got a cracking deal I suppose I could get a good price if I sold. If normality ever returns then this van is going some way to restoring sanity.
The guy I bought this van from bought his next van from Simpson’s Great Yarmouth. He was scheduled to pick it up in April, no chance now.

Our New Van Is/was due to be delivered to Simpsons this week from Auto-Trail. They said that they would contact me as soon as it reached the forecourt. But nothing as yet. So, guess it won’t now get delivered now.

I saw a message somewhere this week saying they had closed for the near future. At least your new van should be safe with them. Better then looking out of the window at a van you cannot use.

Just looked at their website, and there’s no mention of the Covid19, or what they are doing. So, thanks for the update. As you say, at least it will be safe with them, whilst things change for the better?

Sorry to say but I have posted they are shut elsewhere. Have had a phone call today to say our warranty work booked in for 4th April is now being done on reopening. I did try to phone after their initial call but no reply so sent an email. If you go on the site look under news and get the info.

There won't be a recession.

There will be what's called a V economy effect.

When this is over, anyone with money will not be able to keep it in their pockets. This country has lots of wealth sloshing around.

Ask, how many will be desperate to go on holiday? down the pub? get their hair cut, nails done?

it will go on and on and on. You won't be able to get an appointment at the dentist for your new gnashers for love nor money, the car/van will need a service yet the garage will be fully booked for months.

Every penny that gets spent will then go down the line to the factory worker who's working in deliveries and more will employed for the demand...

you might call me optimistic, to me it's just simple mathmatics...

I would agree if not for all the people who can barely buy food at the moment. Mortgage holidays and rent breaks will all have to be paid, and the £350 billion the government are spending will have to be addressed as well. I doubt this will be back to normal in 4 years

Bought our present motorhome last November. It will almost certainly be our last so no plans to sell. Just want to be able to use it.

We have had to postpone two warranty jobs, neither of which would stop us using it. Will get them done when dealership reopens.

Still hope to get to France even if it is late summer. If that’s not allowed then Spain/Portugal in February 2021. If that’s not allowed I only hope that I am still around to use it when things get back to normal.

I just hope all funsters get through the next few weeks, many people are going to have severe financial difficulty, just hope the people with the power have good sense and decency when considering people's hardship. It clearly would be a bad time to sell anything like a motorhome but needs must.

As well as financial problems, sadly, I suspect some of us will not make it to the end of this, most of us are in or near the danger zone a far as age is concerned. Could be a lot of cheap motorhomes available in a year

My gut feeling is that there will be a surge when this is over.
The economy will bounce back big time.
Mortgage holiday just means your paying the missed amount at the end of your loan. So what.
The government will print £100s billions to pay the 80% missing wages and extra costs, this will leave a lasting negative effect on our future pensions and increase inflation.
We can go back to worrying about global warming then.

Have to agree with you in our trade press there already talk about the investment opportunities and with all the government monies coming on tap to support businesses and individuals as soon as the virus has run its course over the next 3 months the investment markets will recover very quickly. Anyone daft enough to shift from invested funds to cash will most likely loss out a# they will not be to time things right.

Our friends son in law drives a black cab but hás handed it back as there is no work. They offered it to him at half price but was still no use. They said that they have that many cabs coming back they have no room for them and could he keep it on his drive way for them. So yes I can see there won’t be a recession.

ours will probably be up for sale , not because we have to but we haven't used it since last August and its seems pointless to keep it . Also have a caravan and find we prefer to be away with that rather than the motorhome because we have transport on site and its suits us to be able to hop in the car as and when we want . Don't much like public transport and my other half has limited mobility so a car is really a necessity for us

I imagine that a number of folk who were planning on selling a van for any number of reasons held off during the winter hoping to sell for a good price in the spring, unfortunately that isn’t going to work particularly well.
Then I was made aware of another effect of covid 19 when cancelling a booking at a campsite last week due to the current situation, after I had a longish conversation with the site owner. They explained how they put money aside during the season to carry them through the winter when they have little or no income. Come this time of year staff have been recruited, improvements have been made to the site, shops and cafes have been restocked and the bank balance is looking unhealthy. In a normal year the bookings gradually build up and the cash starts rolling in, they got the bookings but then the cancellations started and by now they may well have closed. The owner told me without income they didn’t think they could pay the mortgage beyond May.

Just like everyone on here individual priorities will sadly dictate the way forward, while life is " paused" for now, ( zebedee) our used hymer just bought last summer, finally made its way to the weighbridge, after reading all the great information on this great ? forum, I was panicking, thankfully we're legal, grandkids and grandparents are safe, so no, we have no intention of selling, just found our " happiness", we intend to continue, good luck all.

I did reluctantly and half heatedly put the Hymer up for sale as am now yet again in the two bird club with both the Hymer and the fifth wheel. Thankfully it has not sold yet as my semi tame professor is home from Geneva whilst this pandemic is on and is working from home using the Hymer as his office so he gets some peace from us grumpy caged wild animals. Prior to him coming home he was constantly on to me to convert it back to cash, but strangely no mention of it nowadays.

I'm with those that think the economy will take off. This has been a game changer, there are a lot of older people out there sitting on cash in investments of various kinds who have been planning for a long retirement, keeping money aside to deal with illness etc, and they ve just been shown that something can come along out of the blue and wipe them and their investments out and they are powerless to stop it. I reckon those that are spared will be spending big time.

The sad thing is that a lot of our individual businesses will go because what is the point of working on and saving anymore? I have to say the governments total kick in the nuts to the self employed won't help.

Paye zero hours workers have had times with no work for ages now, I guess that the self employed will just have to get used to it. Trouble is aloof people like taxi drivers live for the day. Normally they could go out in the morning with nothing in their pockets and in a couple of hours have cash in their pockets. I bet that the golf clubs are noticing their lack of taxi drivers spending in the week.

They have a good business but it is very seasonal and this time of year they're broke. They have a mortgage as well as other bills and no money to pay. I don't know if there is help available in France but it may be difficult for them to claim as they are not in the country, at the moment they are trying to get work here, but little chance of that. I doubt they will get help here as they are not residents, at least they have family here to help.

I took the Smart Car there which I consider to be in fantastic condition... they offered £4k online and offered me ~£3400 in person... They found 4 invisible chips (the bodywork is 90% plastic) hence the lower offer... I told them to ram it

Jeep Grand Cherokee overland, online with webuyanycar.scam it came in at £12000 they then offered £10,500 when seen, said it’s an import, (obviously they don’t make them in Britain !) put it on eBay and sold it for £13,500.
Any of those sites are just a rip off.
It went to a family owned car dealership in Grimsby, it was in perfect condition and sold on their website for £16,000.
I was happy with my deal.
