We use a fair bit of bubble wrap and have purchased material laptop sleeves for all the metal oven tins.

Was a campervanner, now a motohomer
We use, as separators, not just for plates, but anything that might shake, rattle or roll :
Paper plates, those star shaped felt type things, clean tea towels, clean hand towels, bubble wrap, two sheets of kitchen roll...
There will always be chinking and dinking to some extent. In our case it’s mostly one of the top drawers pinging open because of that stupid ”poke me fifty times to close” knob which doesn’t always close properly - even when I check I have closed it properly. Aah, the joys 😄

I Make Schoolboy Errors!
I use bits of the foam anti slip rubber mesh type liners between crockery, pots, pans and anything else, as well as lining the drawers and cupboards so it don't all shift around too much whilst on the move.

I bought a number, five or six, cotton wiping up cloths fom a Poundshop or such discount location.

Sewed them together along the long side.

Slide dinner plates in one end, side plates inverted into the other, fold in half and I have a single package that doesn't rattle.

I think I may have found them they are called X rubber rubber bands available on eBay and various stationary shops. I think I have just bought 10 for £3.95 on eBay.
