Hello Funsters,
We’re visiting the Sandringham CCC site for the first time this weekend. I’ve noticed reviews on Trip Advisor saying that some pitches are affected by unpleasant odours from a nearby sewage treatment facility. I wonder if anybody who knows the site could advise which parts/pitches are best and which are the ones to avoid. We’ve booked a grass pitch btw.
Thanks all!

We were there about a month ago, no smells. Lovely site, is big but units well spaced apart.
If you'd like to go round Sandringham House, suggest book on-line asap, as full already when we went.

Not sure if wind direction affects. Quotes from TA:

Sept 2020: ”Visited last week and have to say that the staff were lovely, really helpful and pleasant. Sadly the pitch we were allocated was not, it was next to the sewage treatment plant, and trying to enjoy breakfast over the stench was unbearable.”

August, 2020: “After being shown unsuitable pitches due to them being close proximity of bins/poorly maintained pitch, we chose the third option. The lady who saw us to the pitch did not point out that we would be pitched next to the CESSPIT. The smell was disgusting and overpowering and affected the surrounding pitches.”

Avoid all pitches downwind 😁

Update! Have arrived, pitched up and, pleased to say, no horrible smells!
Didn’t have much say in the matter as pitch had been allocated on arrival.
Thanks for all the useful suggestions nonetheless!! 😃

I wonder how much the blue toilet chemicals had interfered with the treatment system.

Been to both sites and (apart from the odd Land Rover crash) not aware of anything out of the ordinary
Mind you, there was the occasion of splashback on one of the sites which resulted in my immediate promotion to ‘Head of Sanitation’

Do you get a choice? When I visited several years ago I was shown where to pitch and I think this is normal CCC procedure.
