Hi, I have an A class Pilote G 600. The spindle that operates the valve on the grey water tank has sheared off. I must admit it's not the best design, it's operated by a metre long flexible cable. I am thinking of incorporating another valve nearer the outlet. The piping is 40mm diameter and I don't seam to be able to source a suitable part. I can get a smaller diameter valve but would need a reducer to fit it. Has anyone had a similar problem or any idea how I can remedy this problem

I think I had exactly the same problem in 2014, been back and found my fix it thread

I was fortunate in that my knife valve on the grey tank failed open, or at least open enough that it discharges quickly enough 👍

good luck, if I can do it, I am confident you can 😁

You should have no problem sourcing a 40mm solenoid valve suitable for grey waste usage. You will have the additional advantage of electronic operation. With careful location of the switch, you can dump grey waste over a grid without getting out of the driver's seat, especially if you point a special reversing camera at the outlet.

These make an excellent replacement:

<Broken link removed>

They're available in any size and in stainless. They never go stiff.

They do go stiff, the handle also snaps off the shaft and they will freeze and split if they are closed with water in them. I've got two on my drain jetting machine which I've replaced quite a few times in the ten years I've had the machine.

Just read back through my old thread, the ball valve supplier doesn’t show up anymore

this is pretty much the same as I bought

for ease you could go to your nearest pond fish place, pretty standard size for pond filters 👍

I only had a couple of years with one on my Hymer. The original was a plastic ball valve that went stiff enough to snap its spindle. I'd suggest that a stainless one should avoid stiffness. I didn't have frost problems as it was in the same heated enclosure as the grey tank.

Lift your carpets and you should find the hidden *safe* area, lift that and you should see a dark blue cap, un wind that and you have access to your grey waste tank and you can move the flap valve thingy from above, and once removed use the 40mm fittings or a reducer valve to replace the wire handle, You have access from above and below!
