Looking for a pillar drill. Has anyone got one of the offerings from the likes of Warco, machine mart and the like. Needs to run slow 150 rpm ish upwards. Fed up with the limitations of a bench top.

I have a Warco pillar drill, great piece of kit.

They have (had) regular sales days and theres (where) some major deals the be had.

I have a Sealey floor standing pillar drill and have had it for the best part of 25 years and it has done everything asked of it.

Sealey are still selling them it would seem, well mines a GDM200A and they on a F now.

I have an earlier version of this, used it for 4 years - well pleased with it, especially as it's only 50 notes

Why not try

That's a bench mounted drill that the OP wants to get away from.

Just missed a Warco 2F pillar drill at £375 down from £545.
Already got a WM180 lathe very good value for the money.

What about a small mill/drill..they come with the x y feeds on the table which i wouldnt be without on a drill table now..
Andy.

I have an Elliott Progress Drill Press, circa late 1950's, slowest speed 34rpm a rather large heavy bit of kit but excellent British engineering.

There are a couple on ebay that should suit your needs.

Get yourself an old Fobco or Elliot off eBay or Gumtree, even if you have to buy an inverter to run it, it'll still be running when all those newer drills have worn out and flexed themselves to bits !

Wow! Three phase supply for a pillar drill, what are you trying to drill?

Reminds me of the old air compressor I had that needed it’s own 16 amp supply as it kept blowing 13 amp fuses in the standard supply.

I prefer a modern one. had a myford lathe and to be honest the Warco is a much nicer machine to used.
