Hi All
A few photos of our trip to Texas. We made in to San Antonio and the Alamo (see photo1) what a beautiful place San Antonio is. Went up into the hills to a cowboy town where we met the World Champion roper :roflmto: got him to rope Jan (see photo2 ) but the rope was'nt strong enough to hold her. We looked outside the Rv a couple of days ago and there was an Armadillo mooching about (see photo3). Back in Florida today for Thanksgiving dinner tomorrow with friends :thumb:. Stopped in Dixie on the way down and camped alongside the Suwanee River (photos 4&5) idyllic.

It took 20 hours driving at 65mph to get to San Antonio from Tampa two and half days but petrol is £1-34p a gallon so £90.00 does 500 mile.

I didn't bother with that Roger.
But I do know that the American Gallon is approx. seven eighths of the Imperial one.
I'm sure you will put me right if I'm wrong!
Good day to you in Devon from a cold scottieland.

"is this the way to armadillo"?

Sorry could`nt resist it!!

Did you go on the riverside?, we enjoyed that. I got told off for NOT taking my hat off in the "alamo", they are really serious about it in Texas. We did several months down there in 2004 including New Orleans (before katrina) I would be interested to know if the KOA is still operating as they had spent a lot of money refurbing it, but we heard it went under water. large chunks of of I-10 went down too. I understand from my son who lives in Houston much is now re-opened?. IF you like wildlife Padre Island is more than worth a look, we stayed actually on the beach one night just watching the herons/pelicans fishing. I like Texas, not just because I have grandkids there, but because the people we met are genuinely "neighbourly". We did Nashville, (Opry and the "hall of fame") Memphis, (Sun and Gracelands) and went to Branson (Mo) In some respect now more "nashville" than nashville, with a campsite by a lake. 12k miles in an r-v in as many weeks!!, but what an experience!!. We stayed on campsites, in State and national Parks, and on Walmart parking lots!! (several times).

Really have GOT to go back before I die!!

Pete
