Assuming the 'tray' is removable, just stick it in some warm soapy water and leave it for half an hour, the eggy bits should then come off easily. Ideally before making any more make sure you oil/butter the 'tray' so they can't stick.

We've got them, very messy. I just fry eggs with the glass lid on now and it cooks the top perfectly without having to flip them.

I Make poached eggs in the microwave, put some water in a microwaveable bowl crack egg into the water and cook on full power for 65 seconds, you will need to experiment with the time depending on power and amount of water but they cook nicely and never stick.

Wow. As someone who uses one pan for almost everything, to me that's a gadget too far! - Sorry!

- and if that tray doesn't come off for cleaning, then I'd say it's not a very good one either!

EDIT see my next post below

A couple of inches of simmering water, a splash of malt vinegar.. and presto ... perfect poached eggs in a minute or two! Truly a gadget too far.

From the instruction manual, page 4:

Ensure the product is fully cooled, switched off and disconnected from the mains supply before cleaning. You can clean the lid, egg rack and poacher accessory in warm soapy water - or put in dishwasher. Always rinse and dry thoroughly before storing. The outside of the egg boiler can be cleaned with a soft cloth moistened with a mild detergent solution. NEVER immerse the base in water or run it under the tap. Do not use abrasive or strong chemical agents to clean the egg boiler.

The manual is online here:

All these gizmos are ok but where do you store them in-between having a poached egg. We have a kitchen full of gizmos that the novelty value has worn off of.:)

A travesty. Proper poached eggs are dropped into boiling water.

Maybe, in desperate circumstances they could be in round ceramic dishes. But oval ones, the work of the devil.
Here, here, real poached eggs can only be done straight in water only way they tast right.:D2

My recipe for perfect poached eggs - take a good size square of cling film (about 40cms ish), spray with oil, crack egg into it & screw the top, creating a pouch, dip into a pan of boiling water & cook for around 5 minutes. Remove from the water, undo the cling film and the lovely cooked egg slides out onto your plate! Works everytime for me!

Sharon, don't get ruffled, this is a FUN site so you're getting fun/silly comments, nothing sarcastic at all ... just give as good as you get but in a fun way.

You can buy silicone gizmos that do that, more storage space required.

Maybe cooks them well but they don't 'look nice' when cooked but before you release them from the cling film ... reminds me of something, can't quite put my finger on it ... only things that looks worse are two boiled eggs in a plastic bag! :X3:

They're cockled eggs. Poached eggs are done in water. They do look good though.

.... but our food looks much worse once it goes over the gums, Ian ... so I keep telling my grandaughter when she looks at my offerings. :)
