Im looking for a phone holder for my iPhone, no doubt a phone holder that can hold various shapes and sizes would be best as the phone is getting long in the tooth and a shiny new model is only weeks away.

Our van is based on a Peugeot boxer.

Any recommendations or any to be avoided.

Thanks

Switched off in glove box gets my vote.
some of us still work and need to decide whether to find somewhere to stop and return the call or carry on. Switched off in your glove box is fine if you are smug and retired.

Some use their phones satnav (not me).. but I do listen to the music on my phone plugged into the front of the radio... of course some don't know how to get the best from their electronic equipment....

I've always used car holders specific to the phone model, cheap suction fixings like:

I like the goose-necks because of positioning options, and the cut-outs allowing the camera to be used and charging cable attached.

Agree if you don't have a hands free facility to deal with calls properly. However, some also use the phone as a sat nav so the op's question still good for me (y) Can always put the phone in airplane mode ;)

I don't think the satnav would work in plane mode.

My Moho and m/c helmet have Bluetooth systems with no need to touch the phone to make or receive calls. However the primary reason is to put the phone somewhere safe, the bonus is that it can be connected to the charging point. Not so easily dove in the "glovebox".

I have had mobile phones in cars/vans etc for nearly 30 years and 600,000 miles without an incident. Not by luck or skill, just I only use them with hand free and when safe to do so. In the 80s and 90s our company car phones were hard wired and generally were much better than early mobiles with boosted signals and constant charging. Since the proliferation of mobiles they have tended to be Bluetooth connected and the charging cradle a thing of the past.

In my opinion it's no coincidence that since mobiles have become commonplace people with lesser driving experience and common sense can be seen holding their phone texting and calling without concentrating on the road. I'd happily see drivers banned for using phones without handsfree, I also think handsfree should be incorporated in all new vehicles. Businesses that expect employees to use phones when driving should be fined. Many business contacts have voicemail messages that say I'm either in a meeting or driving please leave a message.

anyway I'm off to the pub

I use my mobile connected through the vehicle stereo for music and calls, as you say no need to touch it all voice activated I can even send texts simply by using Google voice.... Works great

As for holders I've been through many the last one that was a fail was one of those so called gel ones that the phone sticks to

Have to say the phone stuck okay it was the other end that kept falling off the dash or windscreen

I've used it for satnav before but find it's too small and the voice interrupts my music which is a crime punishable by death

Those ones @jezport has look interesting though might invest in one of those myself

Why not keep it in your pocket, if you are using "hands free". Works for me!:dance2:

Try the Portuguese car phone holder...

Your right (or left) hand.

This enables you to hold it to your ear...

... even as you are trying to overtake on blind bends... ;)

I use one of these in the van, adjusts to the diameter of the cup holder so that it is a tight fit. Got mine from Amazon

Tried many suction and mat types one but none terribly satisfactory, they wobble or awkward but came across a magnetic one although initially sceptical it works well, a Magnetic Holder Phone Volport 360 Degree Rotatable. The one below is fine for a phone but not a tablet would require 2 or a larger version.

Amazon product ASIN B01DKDRT9I
