I am just in the final stages of ordering the van, Peugeot Boxer 160bhp, I am deciding on the options and just have one left to ponder on.
Self adjusting rear pneumatic air suspension with lift and lower function, on the options it is over £1200 but you get it for half that price so its a no brainer really.

Where could you fit that as an after fit for £600?

I am trying to find out where the control unit for this would be and Peugeot are clueless so are a couple of the main Peugeot van dealers I have spoken to. I don't want wires/control unit inside the back doors or load area etc as this will affect the conversion.

Also will there be any issue with any wiring or wiring looms/boxes etc underneath that will affect water/waste tanks.

Anybody used a Boxer with this or know anything about this pneumatic self levelling air suspension. Will it be Peugeot own make, they are clueless Peugeot and main dealers.
I don't want to create problems but its a cheap price option at first glance.

How much does it take off your already frugal payload?

Not frugal, its a 4 tonne van, actually 4005kg, that's without any further uprating, so there will be a 1000kg of payload.

Front axle 2100kg, rear 2400kg, so same as the Fiat maxi axle weights.

No, it will have the tacho and speed limiter on, there is no way around it for the heavy chassis. Contacted Peogeot and they can disable the speed limiter, it will an hours labour they said as it needs to be plugged in etc.

I believe the payload you quote is for an empty van. So how much do you estimate the fitting out materials, batteries, water tanks and any other items you intend to add will weigh? All of this will eat into the quoted payload.

I believe you are wrong, in fact I know you are wrong because the payload empty from the factor is 1870kg.

Don't know about new ones but my son has bought a 2012 fiat maxi ambulance and it has the air suspension at the rear and the pump is somewhere under the drivers seat, havnt found it yet but can hear it buzzing, but no part of the system encroachs into the van.
Hope that helps.

That is the payload for an empty van - my earlier post alluded to the weight of your fitting out materials i.e. cupboards, shower, tanks, cables, pipework ,batteries, 1/2 tank diesel, 1/2 tank water, 1.5 passengers etc etc. This all comes off the bottom line.

Yes I know it does, the converters who are doing the job say payload is 580kg on a 3500kg van, they have told me it will be just over 1000kg when I have shown them what van I am supplying, plus I can take it to 4250kg with any further mods.
It probably wont be 1000kg as they state though because I am having a few different things doing not normally done on pvcs, nevertheless it will be roughly 1000kg payload on completion, I will check on completion and decide if it needs to go to 4250kg.
