Bought my new Bailey last October and have done 700 miles. Dash message on start up reads "change engine oil" have spoken to Bailey and it seems these messages are based on time and not mileage. Ok can live with that. The vehicle is likely to have stood around on the dealers forecourt and my drive way for 12 months since its PDI. However the local Peugeot dealer in Lincoln wont do any work on motorhomes. (says they don't have the height) So my question is, does anyone know a dealer or garage in or close to Lincoln where I can get an oil change and reset. The reset is the important bit as you apparently have to have Peugeot software.

Same happened on mine after 500 miles. . Same scenario. Dealer said no need to change oil yet . You can do an oil change reset by a combination of ignition and accelerator and clutch pedal pressing. Cant remember what they are now but someone else may be back here with the sequence soon no doubt. I'll have a look to see if i saved them.

Foot flat to floor on accelerator and brake - turn ignition on - wait ages until Change Engine Oil comes up - take foot off brake - take foot off accelerator - turn ignition off. Turn ignition back on. Flashing oil light should have gone.

If the above doesn't work just check it out on Google and there are plenty of short videos advising how to reset, just takes a couple of mins. (y)

Found it!
'The check engine oil can be reset, all you need to do it switch on the ignition to glow plugs only (don't start the engine), hold down your foot on the break and accelerator for 15 seconds and then switch off the ignition. After this the check engine should not come on.'

As it was only bought last October, is this not a Warranty issue and should it not be done by that dealer?? or am I missing something?

Unlike Fiat most dealers cant do the cab work as not authorised, one of the many reasons i got rid of my Bailey trying to find a Peugeot dealer to even touch it as too long ,wide height etc

I had exactly the same with my year old Citroen Relay, young lad in reception says yes it must have an oil and filter change, how much I asked, £250 he replied, queried this as not happy with the price and eventually got to see one of the mechanics and he just did the accelerator/brake thing described above and it was sorted, no charge.

but they are the nearly the same Sevel chassis, just a different badging etc as the Fiat.
Why not find a Fiat dealer and, as long as the work is done by a 'professional' person that uses the OEM parts, it is allowed under 'warranty' isn't it??

Baileys are on alko chassis and yes they can repair non franchised but try finding a dealer is difficult given the Bailey profile

Nice idea But is it a Fiat engine? Some are ford. I don't know i have a Fiat fiat not a peugeot citroen ford Fiat. Is there a definitive list of what engines are in various versions. Have there ever been ford engines in a Fiat.

I did a couple of years ago when my 740SE went into limp mode and the King's Lynn dealer let me down, too long a story for here. Tried Boston as they'd serviced my previous van but the moment I told reception the details she said it wouldn't go on their ramp. Peterborough needed to see it before they could tell so it ended up in Norwich.

Humsafer I'm sorry but, I have a Fiat X250 PVC and no longer have a pit, so I do all my service work, including oil & filter change, fuel filter, brakes etc. on my front driveway and then scan and reset it with a handheld scanner bought from Gendan for about a £100.

Oil, filter and reset is not rocket science, just do it, we won't tell anyone if you don't!

PS Why haven't we heard from the OP????

Thanks every one
Will save some of the cures for future use
In the short term have found a non franchise dealer 8 miles away who has up to date software and happy to do the oil change

Can I have the details of the garage please?

Although we live in North Somerset, and have a Fiat Professional Garage about 5 miles away, we are far from happy with the service they provide. However, we have a son who lives in Lincolnshire so not a problem to travel up there. (y)
