The bonnet release on my 1999 Peugeot Boxer is not working. The cable does not feel like it has snapped.
Does anyone know how to release the bonnet other than the release catch under the steering column so I can investigate?

I don't know whether there's an alternative release (there usually isn't) but I've released a stuck one before by pulling on the release handle whilst a helper gives the bonnet a serious thump (downwards) with their fist.

I've checked out a few videos on youtube, they seem to recommend trying to get some WD40 or similar onto the mechanism via the grille, then as Tony suggests, thumping the bonnet while someone else keeps pressure on the release handle.

I don't know your van but on earlier transits it was possible to reach up into the engine compartment and pull the cable releasing g the bonnet....
One of the anti theft devices that I fitted was to route the cable in tubing to prevent the scrtoes from doing this..
Worth a look...

Thanks to all for contributions. Been to it this morning with assistant ( 13 yr old Grandson) and before I got chance to heave up and down on the bonnet whilst he operated the release catch, he pulled the catch which promptly opened and looked at me as if to say , what's the problem  my response was :censored:
