There's a petition to government to ban toilet additives containing the carcinogen formaldehyde, which is not only harmful to health but is also destructive to the 'biome' within the septic tanks that many cassette emptying points rely on. Some blue toilet chemicals contain formaldehyde, a known human carcinogen. The government should ban the use of formaldehyde in motorhome/caravan toilet fluids because safer alternatives (including 100% natural products) are now commercially available.

If someone can prove that formaldehyde is still in use as a product break down waste in cassettes then I'll sign the form that stops it's use entirely.

Blue formaldehyde fluids should have been banned years ago. I thought it had been.

I specifically checked that formaldehyde isn't used in the loo sachets I use in my loo. I use Thetford chemicals, and neither the blue or green Aqua Kem contains formaldehyde.

According to CAMpRA:
"Formaldehyde is the main biocide in Elsan Blue and Elsan Double Blue, a number of products from Blue Diamond and a lot of the cheap toilet fluids sold in discounters and online."

I know CAMpRA aren't the final arbiter but they do tend to do their research carefully.

The latest Safety Data Sheets (2015) list formaldehyde among the ingredients.

True. If all waste disposal points banned anyone dumping from casettes containing formaldehyde it would pretty quickly dissapear as no one would buy it. I think Aldi blue toilet fluid still contains it
