There's a petition to government to ban toilet additives containing the carcinogen formaldehyde, which is not only harmful to health but is also destructive to the 'biome' within the septic tanks that many cassette emptying points rely on. You may wish to e-sign the petition which can be found here:

I thought formaldehyde had been removed from most anyway.

If someone can prove that formaldehyde is still in use as a product break down waste in cassettes then I'll sign the form that stops it's use entirely.

It's a known cause of leukaemia asthma and other diseases

Human bio-waste will break down naturally

I specifically checked that formaldehyde isn't used in the loo sachets I use in my loo. I use Thetford chemicals, and neither the blue or green Aqua Kem contains formaldehyde.

I haven't used the blue stuff for years, I'm surprised they still sell it.

According to CAMpRA:
"Formaldehyde is the main biocide in Elsan Blue and Elsan Double Blue, a number of products from Blue Diamond and a lot of the cheap toilet fluids sold in discounters and online."
I know CAMpRA aren't the final arbiter but they do tend to do their research carefully.

The latest Safety Data Sheets (2015) list formaldehyde among the ingredients.

Motorhoming is a minority interest.

Cassettes are a minor component of a MH.

Only a minor %, if any, of cassettes contain formaldehyde

Why bother Parliament with the issue - better to lobby any companies using it.

True. If all waste disposal points banned anyone dumping from casettes containing formaldehyde it would pretty quickly dissapear as no one would buy it. I think Aldi blue toilet fluid still contains it

Signed and written to my MP. Not sure how effective that will be as Boris is not there to tell him what to think.
Sue

signed shared on F book but no point in sending to our local MP as he is utterly useless and only interested in making money for self [and to keep his horses warm at taxpayers MP expenses ]
