Pet insurance (dog) travel abroad

I like to think I'm fairly on the ball

but currently scouring T&Cs for pet insurance as doggy is at vet with injured leg

I noticed that if taking pet abroad we should notify insurers in advance and provide travel itinerary. I wasn't aware, posting as a FYI.
