Happy new year all,

I'm planning our summer holiday and think 2019 is Italy and quite fancy Peschiera del Garda.
Subject to availability, I'm looking at Camping Cappuccini (August) (set holiday dates!)

I've read the numerous posts about routes and I think we'll take the Gotthard Tunnel route from Zeebrugge as we're 9m tag axle 3.24m high, so Blanc is out of the question on cost.

So here's my questions to the experts;

Is Luxembourg worth staying at or would you suggest pressing on to Metz?
Any suggestions on sites if suggested Luxembourg?

Has anyone stayed at Saarbrucken or Strasbourg? - are they nice places to visit?

Plan to stay in Lucern and then onto Peschiera.
Would you suggest breaking this journey with a stop and if so, where's good?

For the return, has anyone used the Verona - Innsbruck - Stuttgart route?

Or would you suggest returning via the same route as outbound? (if so, we'd consider routing off around Strasbourg towards Heidelberg/Bonn and home to take in a bit of Germany)

We've got a 5 year old child, so tend to drive for a few hours and then break the journey but have been known to do a full day (It's just that kids TV on in the background does my head in)

Thanks in advance!

Luxembourg is a very nice country but very expensive (apart from fuel), Metz is well worth a visit great town with loads of interesting things to see.
Have a look at this thread of mine, a couple of stops in Luxemburg & visit to Metz.

Luxembourg - fuel, Metz, Lucerne, Peschiera is our route, no tunnels.

But I suggest you return via Germany, well worth it. Peschiera -- Austria -- stop Fussen -- Heildeberg glorious -- Rhein - Moselle - home.
