As I've got a Hymer, a motorcycle and work van, I think personal breakdown cover would be cost effective. I've looked around but can't find one to cover the Hymer.

Any ideas ?

I don't think there is anything specific for Hymer but I'll be proved wrong very soon.
Why would you need a personal breakdown cover for specifically a Hymer.
A A, RACHEL Green Flag etc do breakdown cover.
I now use Nationwide flexi account and its included even throughout Europe and travel insurance send other thingummys.

I did not mean Hymer specifically, motorhome is what I meant.

The personal ones I've seen rule out motorhomes.

RAC is one and a lot come down to the Moho weight. There are ways round that (I believe!!!) by joining the c&cc (might be a new name, then the rac (if heavier than 3500.

RAC through the C&CC , called arrival I think, I've used them for the last 8 years ,very good service , called them out 3 times ,twice in France. But in France the breakdown service is more of a piggy back to the garage rather than roadside repair, Mine cost £140 for this country & european cover. I think thats only covers 3.500ton vehicles ( not sure)

Yes, it covers Europe. You do need the appropriate bank account though. Like all the ‘premium accounts’ you pay a monthly fee but with worldwide travel insurance and a few other goodies it is very cheap. Keep £2,500 in the account and it is about £6 per month. The travel insurance is included up the age of 75 with the ability to extend this and time spent abroad for £50. A good deal I think.

I use Nationwide cover. It is personal cover for vehicles up to 8m and 7.5 tons.

Same here.. Have the flex plus account and motorhome is covered.
ok it costs £13 a month but as said keep in some cash and you get some interest to offset.
Additional features are included as well. I dropped my daughter newish Iphone 6 and that was repaired under the phone cover they include (small fee payable on phones).
Not used the breakdown element as yet but have read others posting and all seems ok.

ps. If you decide to get an account, have a friend, family or even fun member to recommend you as you get cash back. £150 last time :xThumb: It certainly works as i have done it 3 times :)

Nationwide for us too we went to Cuba just after opening the account so saved a lot straight away as it also includes health cover worldwide. We had an annual policy before but started to get a bit twitchy whether the company would pay out if there was a claim as not a well known one.

I ve never looked into it too much but have always used the company that came with the insurance.
We are covered by AXA and the company is the insurance house r something similar but the breakdown is with silverline or silver something. Didnt need it last year as it was covered by Ford but just taken it out again and 65 quid for european cover and we have had cause to use it before and unfortunately they were very impressive.
We broke down alongside the seine in a champagne house at closing time and the owners were happy to leave us alone in the chateau by ourselves. The recovery was there within an hour and we spent the night in a breakers yard instead.
If you are considering breaking down i can thoroughly recommend the Devaux champagne house as a quality stopover

We are with Britannia Rescue and have their personal cover for myself and Mrs Maxi. We are both covered in any vehicle in the UK and in our nominated vehicle in Europe, a quick phonecall does that. An interesting point is that the independent recovery agents they use will chose a call up by Britannia over any others because they pay in full fast. Usually means a prompt pickup in less than an hour unlike the RAC for example who excelled with over three hours in the snow.

Travel insurance through nationwide can get expensive with any pre existing conditions a good travel insurance if you only want 31 days at a time in Europe euro tunnel is very reasonable as long as your doctor says it's alright for you to travel ,
No medical questions.

We have personal breakdown cover on 2 cars and the Hymer in the UK, with MayDay through the C&MC. It's been brilliant over the years and the amount that we save against AA and RAC, plus the M6 Toll saving, more than covers the C&MC annual subscription and leaves a useful amount towards Red Pennant cover for overseas, which is particularly lenient over health history.

Unfortunately ADAC is no longer available to new members without a German address. So don't let your membership lapse.
