These two little cuties have been visiting the peanut feeder lately so as the camera was handy a took a few photo's of them.

First time I have ever heard a Wood Pecker..... pecking proper up in one of the tree`s...

Never had much interest for the peanut feeders I put out... tried different sources, locations & feeders but the fussy blighters are not bothered :rolleyes:...

...and yet they go crazy for a neighbour's just a couple of houses down the road :confused:.

Where we lived before our next door neighbour had a nesting box about 20 feet up a conifer tree and one of our local wood peckers learnt that this made a good drum and as a result he out did all the competing wood peckers for miles around in volume come mating time.

The variety of wild birds are something we miss moving from country to seaside although every afternoon we see large formations of Cormorant coming in from the sea to roost inland , quite a sight.
