Just in the throes of booking in my hab check and noticed the manual hadn't been stamped by the dealer when the van was bought new last year. On enquiring with them, they said in most cases they aren't and the warranty isn't registered until the van comes back for the first year hab check.
I said I had no intention of travelling half the length of the country to have the hab check done there when I can get it done locally at under half their price at an approved workshop. I asked them to scan a blank page of the manual, PDI stamp it for last year but they say "they can't do that as it would look funny with a page attached to the manual and the PDI is only to protect them anyway". I also asked them to activate the warranty but they haven't replied to that.

The warranty should be activated when it's sold so that's a load of bull as far as I'm concerned. Ask at your local approved workshop about registering it for warranty.

As for the PDI I wouldn't worry about that as it's not needed for your warranty as it's just a check they do to 'supposedly' make sure the MH is fully working before the customer gets it.

One thing to be careful of is assuming the approved workshop are specifically approved by the manufacturer of your MH - this is important as many don't recognise an approved workshop as it's not 'approved' by them to work on their vehicles, do annual hab checks etc and thus your warranty wouldn't be maintained. If it's the AWS scheme then it doesn't appear that Dethleffs is included:

So joined the Dethleffs Owners Club (£15 per year) and they have a deal with several Dethleffs approved workshops, notably in my case, Reliance at Chichester. The DOC deal is £299 inc vat for the hab check and underseal spray - compares to £680 quoted by my well known dealer.
The DOC have my reg no and vin no and are hoping to pigeon hole the Dethleffs reps on their stand at the show next week who hopefully will be able to access the German computer and see just what has or more likely hasn't been registered. For the dealer to tell me they don't register the warranty until the 1st hab check is more than a load of bull and I thought you were being very polite

Why does it need an underseal spray? Is that a relic from the time that Hymer insisted on it being done on their MHs which is now a load of b*llocks? MIght be worth checking on that before going ahead.

No, it is a condition of the warranty in that although there is a fibreglass floor they underseal the pipe and cable exits. It's a spray can job and they put the sticker off the can into the service manual.
See you have graduated from bull to b*locks :giggle:

Like you we have a Dethleffs, which was bought new from Premier motorhomes, Chichester. All paperwork was signed and stamped at time of delivery.
