We’re off to France from Newhaven early this March and assuming they still need a Covid test 24 hours before we travel, where do you guys get your tests and approx costs please. We’re both boosted, cheers me dear😎

As far as I’m aware it a LFT that is required not pcr. It changed a few days ago. It does have to be a paid for one for some money grabbing reason though.

Before switching to the Ferry we had planned to travel in December and had booked LFTs in Sandwich with Wren Healthcare about £30 each. We could not cancel but Wren offered to do the tests at any date in the future

At the moment you need either a negative PCR or Lateral flow test completed 24 hours prior to travel to enter France.
The LFT is cheaper. My son used these at £12.

At the moment you need a 2 day LFT test on return, which can be purchased for a tenner, but rumour has it, these will not be required from February onwards, so I wouldnt order these until close to your return.

Simply Test are only 12 quid for a LFT we used them when we came back in November.

In Covid terms, March is still a long way off - albeit only about 6 weeks - but much could change before then.

So whilst sensible to be considering options, suggest holding off on any firm testing plans for now... (y)

Not sure why the government (us) should be expected to pay for a test for someone to go on holiday.

I don’t think it matters what the result of the test is used for does it? I’m testing regularly for work. Why can’t I use the same test result to travel as I can for work. The chances are I will test for work the day before travel anyway. No though, nobody makes money from that test do they? The whole testing to travel is just a money making scam, absolutely nothing to do with safety. If it was for safety then any negative test result would suffice, not just a paid for result.

I agree they shouldn’t be free but the fact you do them at home and send in a photo means it’s just for money, if it was to prevent anyone travelling with COVID then the tests would be done in person. My daughter is travelling to Iceland next week and has to go and get the test done as self testing is not permitted, if other countries followed these rules then I’d agree they’re doing it to prevent the spread.

Why should the NHS/govt pay for a test for someone to go on holiday? Or to put it bluntly those who pay taxes etc pay for others to have a jolly? It's not 'mandatory' to go on holiday so if you want to go you pay the price.
