I think it’s a LFT that’s required now not PCR.

We’re doing one at home on Thursday morning, and an official one on Thursday afternoon before leaving for Folkestone.

If the one in the morning is positive, (fingers crossed it won’t be) then everything’s postponed!

Think there is a test centre at the Asda store in Ashford.

Asda at Ashford or use simplytestme £12 delivered to home before you travel down. You can use Lateral flow does not need to be PCR

Query? We used ‘simplytestme’ on return home last week - we sent the photo of the result and they just sent an email back saying ‘test validated’ . So, if I use this test to enter France , I don’t seem to have a clear ‘certificate’ - are the french happy with 2 emails?
‘simplytestme’ did seem pretty efficient , we received the validation quickly quite late in the day.?

That would have been a UK day two test where you get the email with the result but the details are submitted automatically to the UK Government as per the requirements and you do not need to receive the certificate.

To travel you would need to purchase the Fit to Fly Test, they are the same exact test and price but you receive a certificate with the results and that is what would be needed to present to the French Authorities.

My tired brain has now worked this out ! ‘Simplytestme’ register the test as ‘fit to fly’ and if I press the right button I get a certificate! Magic!
I will use them as we want to travel on a Monday morning and getting a test nearby on a Sunday afternoon/evening is tricky.

I can recommend simplytestme - we sent an email query to them late at night and received a very quick and helpful reply …. The tests arrived promptly as did the validation reply. All for £12 each. ’
