Hopefully will start to happen once more people start going abroad again. Just booked our appointment qith the vet we always use for couple of weeks time they charge £120. That seems to be the average around here. Had a wee ring round to gauge prices.

It would be well worth a drive for us as our usual vet is charging £245. We have appointment booked for mid August but this could save us a fair bit!

A vet who has cottoned on to the gap in the market for (relatively) reasonably priced AHCs. May be particularly useful for those travelling to the ferry at Portsmouth.

PassPets
Do you have to have them before you get on ferry even if you have a letter from your vet in uk

Our vet charges £150 but we’ll get 10% off as pet club members. Every little helps! £50 for second dog. Having spoken to the vet, it sounds like completing the paperwork is the major part of the process. Checking over the dog seems like only a small part. Hopefully as time goes by it will become more routine and hopefully cheaper!

We only paid £60 for the AHC, but have still sourced a French passport last week to make life as easy as possible. Worming tablet for him on Monday ready for the sad return.

I found a website for a service based in Folkestone costing £95.
I don’t know if it’s genuine?

I think we need someone to go round and check them out! PassPets seems to be down a cul de sac and not very MH friendly. The Folkestone ones web page reads the same, just laid out differently,I hope I'm wrong but I'm always a bit sceptical.

I have no personal knowledge of either of these setups but for the one at Langstone there is a useful lay-by for parking just up the main road.

Is there any reason why a qualified vet who wants to just do AHCs should not work from home to do so?

The one in Folkstone has an email associated with Abbeywell vets in the town, and their surgery is about 7km from the terminal, so I suspect its them.
Yes it says Mike at Abbeywell vets and that’s the name of the main vet.
An overnight stay down there to pick up the AHC for £98 and tunnel the next morning, sounds good.

Just to confirm - if your dog has a UK Pet Passport she will not need an AHC. Or have I - unfortunately - got this wrong.

Uk pet passport will only get your dog into the UK.

Need AHC or EU pet passport for entry to EU

Just before you turn left down that road there is a big lay-by on the right before hayling bridge.
Free parking and a minute walk into thr high street.
If you drive down the high street it takes you onto the foreshore, many a car has been submerged when people park down there and go into the pub and tide comes up😳😳

I see the point. Costal cruiser is alerting us the fact that there is easy motorhome parking just a minutes walk away from the vets. Thanks Coastal Cruiser.
Glad someone explained it in easy words :doh:

I even put pictures to make it easier😁

I haven’t received a reply to my email but someone on the AHC Facebook group have and it is Abbeywell vets and £98 for first dog and £25 each subsequent pet.

Also a report back from someone who used PassPets and all good.
