Parking to be created in Ayr/Girvan

That is indeed good news. I work just the other side of the Low Green behind Blackburn Road car park. It’s a bit of a spot for cars meeting up at night and people going from one car to another ...

Brilliant news, reasonably handy for visiting family. Girvan is one of my favourite uk spots so many happy childhood memories.

Its really good to see that more councils like Ayr , EG Hawick , Fife etc, are actively encouraging motorhomes via providing overnight park up spots for motorhomes . There is also a growing number of other motorhome park up initiatives considering or actually already providing park up plus elsan and fresh water facilities .

EG the road to the isles initiative .

Also the plans from Highland council to encourage land owners etc to provide park ups for I think , up to 30 vehicles . Targetting along and around the NC 500 route .

Also Forest and Land Scotland who trialled ,via "Stay the Night " , the opening of 30+ forest sites last year . It was deemed to be very succesful . At the moment the trial has ended , hopefully only until freedom of movement once more comes along . They did close the trial for a very short time last year due to possibly , (more likely probably ) pressures from private businesses , ie commercial campsite owners ( aka part of the vested interest old boy network) . However that closure was very quickly reversed after the apparent intervention of the Scottish Tourism minister . So possibly , just possibly , the vested interest crowd are now getting their cosy positions very much challenged .

From our travels pre lockdown , there did appear to be a lot more private businesses than before ( pubs etc ) opening up to the idea of motorhome stopovers within their properties . So over all it does look good for motorhoming in general .

You beat me to it with this post, it is good news and I hope it encourages other areas when they see money being spent in the local businesses.

Great news and very forward thinking by the local councils. It would seem the Northern half of our island are much more welcoming of motorhome s than the southern half.

It would be interesting to know in a couple of years time if local buisness have had a big increase in customers from the aires.
