Parked up on the eastern esplanade road about 14.00, we like a few others where overhanging the marked space at the back but not causing any problems to passing traffic, paid using the app. We came back at about 17.00 and sat having a cuppa and the traffic warder tells us to move because we are overhanging, ok no argument we are. Guy next door isn't in his van so he gets a ticket, Welcome to Paignton.

Is this why you were looking at downsizing? :)

I should perhaps add I'm not stalking you. :) I clicked on your avatar to see if you still had the RV, which are well known for not fitting comfortably onto a standard car parking space. :)

So what size an would have fitted in the space with no overhang?

Transit fits. If I took up two slots then ok but we didn't, in Lowestoft the other week it clearly said if you overhang you pay double, we paid double.

4.8m is the recommended minimum length of a parking bay so any MH above say 5m is going to struggle although I suspect you might be OK up to 5.5m unless you meet a jobsworth. I know our 6m PVC always overhangs.

I don't expect them to have motorhome slots, just charge us more for overhanging that's fair to me, not a £60 fine that just makes sure we spend our money elsewhere.

Will be up there tomorrow , lunch at Henry's bar then a wander around in the rain I expect

We weren't overhanging two bays, we overhung at the rear into the road, but as I said no problem for cars or lorries to get past us its one one way.

Oh,how awful for you!

How can you possibly cope,it must have been dreadful. That beastly traffic warden doing his job was such a nuisance.

:ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: :ROFLMAO: No problem for us not so good for the guy next door.
And no she (it was a she) wasn't beastly, she didn't give us a ticket when she could have done, so very nice traffic warden.:giggle:

Was there a few weeks ago. Had Been a long time since we’d been to Paignton, its not what it used to be.
Brixham nicer.
Bays looked ok for 5m I’d say.

No wonder I have trouble parallel parking, the car is 4.9m

Next time park side on and buy 5 tickets. the issue is getting rid of everybody else.

The wife wants to visit Torquay today, after a drive round yesterday evening you park longways on the main road, looking on their parking website and it says if you overhang into another slot you buy two tickets so that's what we will do if we can find two slots together.

Noticed they don’t ticket if you overhang at the leisure centre at Goodrington, theres load of space this time of year but no sea view of course. Its a nice walk to Paignton via the harbour but the town has become a depressing dump and the poor relation to Torquay. I remember holidaying in Paignton in the 70s, my dad loved it there and we’d visit frequently. Still, lovely dog walk to Brixham if your up for it.

Now parked on the sea front at Torquay, two £7 tickets duly bought. Weather looks very nice off for a stroll soon.

Paignton doesn’t help itself, does it? It’s a shameful waste of resources and also of an opportunity to win the custom of potential returning tourist wallets.

Torridge Council have seen the light and are leading the way with their welcome for visitors and overnighting motorhomers.

Have just returned from a day out at paington, lots of shops shut and gone not just end of season, those that are open apart from the cheap clobber shops looking bare.
Still a good roast and pint at Henry's and a £28 win on the slots for a £1 stake almost paid the bill.
The much tattooed femail(?) traffic warden was out and about giving out raffle tickets.
A little chilly but the :sun:was out
