Hi we are going to Normandy in June. We have booked a camp site but will be going out and about so would like to know how easy parking is. Do we use aires for a few hours parking or are they just for overnight.
Thanks

If you can get on an Aire, then you can use it for a few hours but depending which one, you may have to pay for staying which is the overnight fee. Obviously some are free.

We were on the Normandy coast last September, stayed in two campsites and also visited sites in the motorhome.
We stayed at Bernieres sur Mer, from where we walked along Juno Beach, as far as St Aubin sur Mer. There is also a pretty little village behind the campsite, with some interesting D-Day info plaques dotted around.
We moved on to a campsite at Colville sur Mer, from there we could walk to the Overlord Museum which we thought was well worth visiting. There is plenty of parking at the museum if you visit in your van.
Arromanches has a large car park at the top of the hill overlooking the town and beach, easy to park a motorhome, and only a few euros for daytime parking.
There other parking places all along the coast, some have height barriers, but there are some aires in laybys which I think are free, if you have the Aires book that is good for info.

I hope this is helpful, we were only spending a few days in the area as part of a longer trip but will be returning to spend longer. It is very cycle friendly along the coast.

On the other coast, we have also stayed on a campsite at Pontorson, from where we could cycle to Mont St Michel, although I think there is parking just before the bridge with shuttle buses between there and the island. Cycles and vehicles are not allowed to cross.

Generally you will find at the Memorial sites and Museums plenty of parking along with supermarkets or even on street. We had a 10 day trip last Easter and had no problems parking anywhere there.
