Hi,
I was wondering if anyone knows if you can still park at Honfleur Aire for free if you have a blue badge 🤔

I'm not certain but now not we are not in the EU I don't think the French recognise our Blue Badges anymore.

Thanks for your reply 👍 mine still has a big EU logo on, do you think it will be okay?

Slightly off topic but whilst in Hungary we were required to pay full adult entry prices for museums as we are no longer in the EU. No senior discount and no child or student discounts!

Spain are still giving OAP discounts which are big in Spain.

Why would you expect the aire to be free please?

Not sure how you can conclude that it’s an expectation; they’re asking whether the facility previously provided is still available. 🤷‍♂️

I can now see that from the later post that apparently it always was free, I didn’t read that into the OP

I want a blue badge if it means free parking.

i'd be very happy to swap my blue badge to be healthy, mobile/ not disabled and not need one again..
and not every where is free to park with a blue badge, that was never the intention..

That’s not my point whatsoever!

I think it is wrong to expect blue badge perks for leisure use in a motorhome or campervan. I think Cornwall and Devon have it right in that if you are not locally registered you pay for parking.

Not sure that there’s an expectation of that. However, if it transpires that a ‘benefit’ is available, why would one entitled to that ‘benefit’ not avail themselves of it?

You're not disable just in cars. It's the same when you're in your motorhome, so why should it be different perks?

It just doesn't seem right and is not what a blue badge was issued for. It is like saying blue badge holders should not be charged for a pitch on a site!

You keep talking in terms that suggest badge holders are demanding privileges; they’re not.

If an organisation is offering a ‘benefit’ to a certain group of individuals then that is their prerogative. Should a campsite be prepared to offer the ‘benefit’ in your analogy, then so be it. That would be their prerogative and any indignation from others would, rightly, be irrelevant.

A blue badge is for accessible parking for anyone with a qualifying disability and although often has the additional benefit of not having to pay for parking it has absolutely nothing to do with the ability to pay.
Most free parking is offered to avoid the need to have to get to the ticket machine and obviously some disabilities would make using the ticket machine difficult or impossible.
