Does anybody have experience of the best place to park a 7m motorhome in Harrogate close(ish) to the Convention Centre? If you are going to the showground there is no problem, but there seems to be no Park & Ride to make life easy. So HELP please.

Had a quick google, seems as if moho's are welcome to park in the surface level car parks on payment of appropriate fees and buying however many tickets for the spaces you take up-worth a google!

We're there in the car on Friday for the Homebuilding Show, will have a look around and let you know, if that's soon enough for you?

Don't think you'll get much nearer than the showground. Harrogate has next to no carparks let alone ones that accommodate a MH and definitely none near the Convention Centre. You can park on the road side if you can find a spot and fit in. All pay and display.
Sorry

The coach parking, next to Asda, is plenty big enough for a motorhome, lots of vans and small trucks use it too. But it's a bit of a hike back into the town.

Thanks everybody. Paddywack we are there on Friday too. Asda sounds good but we will be there for more than their 2hrs which I guess is their limit. All the 'surface' car parks listed on line are only small so we will have to prepare ourselves for street side parking and 'legging' it into town.

It used to be disc parking in the streets just on the edge of town when I worked there, but that was late 90’s. Happy days at Hookstone Park.

We're thinking of going too, but usually go to Harrogate on the bus because of the difficult parking. There is talk of creating a P + R but not yet.

The coach park is (was) next to Asda, not in their carpark so no charges should be applied - well not by Asda. Unless, of course, it's changed since I was last there.

Although there is no P+R from the showground, there is a fairly good bus service (Transdev No.7) from Sainsbury's on Wetherby Road which is not too much of a walk from the site. (www.transdevbus.co.uk/harrogate/services/HDT/7) There is also a Connexions service (X70) but it more limited and beware - tickets are not interchangeable with the Transdev service.

You can stop at Rudding park and get a bus in or likewise there is a CL/CS called Hollins hall farm and again its on a bus route to Harrogate.

Think she would keep you on the hardstanding this time of year.

I don't think the bus goes to Rudding Park any more and it's the thick end of an hour's walk to the nearest bus stop.

Looks to me like it still stops outside the site gate, the walk shown isn't really 15 minutes though as it has used the centre of the park.

My mistake - I had forgotten that the Connexions X70 still goes that way but my point still stands that it's not a very comprehensive service. The last bus back from Harrogate is at 16.55 and there's no service at all on Sunday.

If you want to park for free all day you can on duchy rd / Kent rd which are off ripon rd & any number of side roads around there.
All about a ten minute walk from the royal hall & conference centre.

I am planning to visit the show in Harrogate tomorrow so may see a few funsters.
