Hi, looking to visit Leeds for a day out when we are in Upwood caravan park, I have a Bailey approach 540. Has anyone used the Hampton by hilton car park in the city centre?

How big is your van?

Park and ride??
Leeds advertises 2 Park and ride sites at Elland rd and Temple green but this has height barriers. Looking at aerial views spaces look small 🤔

Steam train from Haworth to Keighley. Train from Keighley to Leeds. Job done.

Is it a weekend and do you know Leeds?
No, we are doing a tour of south Yorkshire based on Upwood campsite for 3 weeks... just wanted a day sightseeing as I have never been to Leeds (even though I've supported Leeds utd since 1970) 🙈

Last time w went the overflow at Elland P&R didn’t have a height barrier, but it was pre COVID

You might be able to park at White Rose shopping centre south leeds, close to the M62 and get a bus in. No barrier last time we went, 12+ months.

Not familiar with the elland road pr (despite being an avid Leeds fan).
I would go for new pudsey train station. The car park is quiet on a weekend. It has CCTV. If the car park is full then there is bags of parking at owlcoates shopping centre which is 5 mins walk to station.
I would not do white rose centre as that car park gets very full at a weekend. Weekdays yes I would agree.

Another option is Morrison's at kirkstall. Bus every 10mins into town.

If you want to be able to walk into town then there is on street parking around hyde park up by the university. There is also pay and display at tgi fridays at the bottom of kirkstall road.

All three p&r sites have height barriers and the Temple green one is closed due to it being used as a covid testing station.
You could Park at golden Acre Park and catch the bus into town (x84 bus) it does fill up quite quickly though.

For an unofficial park and ride, head to Roundhay Park - Mansion Lane off Princes Avenue. Parking bays are big enough for your van. And no height barriers.
Bus stop into town (20-30 min ride) just down from The Roundhay Fox, a half decent pub on the corner.

Having seen where Upwood is agree with the earlier comment, train Keighley worth valley and then mainline from Keighley to Leeds.

You can break the journey at Saltaire and have a wander around the village and mill.

you would struggle to park at the mainline stations, car parks tend to have barriers.
