Parking at Harwich

Is it possible to park at the ferry terminal when arriving at Harwich?

Do you mean overnight or just park up if arriving early?

Must be pretty quiet overnight but it depends if you're in the way of the morning sailing and when the queues start forming. I know a couple who work at the port so I'll ask.

Loads of places to park in and around Harwich which are a lot less busy than the port see previous posts for locations ( Morrisons car park at the port entrance at the far end is your closest)

Answer from someone who works at the port confirming pretty much what has been said;
"Yes the car check in parking area is open 24/7, people park motor homes there all the time not much in the way of facilities though!"

And another from a port worker;
"Nice seafront to park your motor home on too, overlooking Dovercourt Bay".

If you like fish and chips there is parking near the pier just walk up tp Pieseas fish and chips for your evening meal

Anyone used the port parking recently we've just booked for May and are looking for an overnight spot or nearby site although we probably won't get to Harwich until 7 pm or so.

Thanks I really meant inside the terminal car park as on search for sites.

You'll be sharing the terminal with those boarding the evening sailing until check in opens around 20.00/20.30 but we've seen vans parked around the perimeter whilst we were in the queue. Once the queue's gone you have the place to yourselves. There's always Morrisons across the road for a couple of hours if necessary.
