I checked for places I know within around 50 miles.

I would not go near most of the places in daylight, with a Police Escort.

One of them is a Dogging Site if anyones interested. Near Junction 27 M60 Opposite Tesco. Very well known to the Police.

For those of you who think dogging is dog walking, like in Peter Kay's Car Share.

Just noticed, You live in an Area where we are looking for a house!

We used park4night exclusively when we rented a van for two weeks last month. We found some fantastic wild camping spots with it as well as some excellent camp sites. We used it in Poland.

Can be useful, but some places are totally unsuitable, including car parks with signs saying no overnighting

But useful to find sites in conjunction with search for sites 👍

Owned and operated in France, much.more suited to the wide open spaces on the continent. For us who like to wildcamp it is the best app.

We have used park4night a lot, mainly in France but also Germany. Not used it in our resident country of Poland, but it is so easy here to find somewhere to pull up.

We have found it good if one is selective. One great thing about it is that it has so many sites that if one arrives at one and does not like it the next one is usually not far away.

We also use campincar-infos, Campercontact and searchforsites, but mostly park4night.

Never found any 'Dogging' sites but maybe that is only a British perversion.

Like any library of places where MH have stayed the night, these locations are not sanctioned approved stopping places. I use the Apps as a guide and look in on listed locations and make an assessment as to staying. As has been said many I would not stay the night at.
I fear that the growth of the various apps and any increase of 'Wild overnight' stopping will lead to problems in the future. The UK does not have the Aire network and if these locations are over used and complaints made the landowners will increase access controls.

We have used it exclusively for the last five years in France and never been without somewhere to park, but seeing that there are loads of proper Aires, farm stops, and other official places that there is no need to choose anything that looks dodgy.
Here it is a totally different story, with so few official places to stay it lists everything from a layby to a dogging area and not so good.

We pay for a subscription which allows you to filter based on rating, we've found this cuts out all of the iffy sites if you set it to a minimum of a four star rating... 😉

We've stayed at some great places in the UK and use it as an 'aire picker' in France with some exceptional results. On the flip side, we've driven straight on from some sites that we found on it in the UK before we paid for the subscription, you learn to get the best out of it after a while.

Attached is an example of a site we found on there last week, spot the van....

We've used it extensively in the last few years in Scandinavia and this year in Galicia. We find it VERY good, but we ALWAYS check the comments and the Google map of a place before we go.

Before, we always used Camper Contact, which we now find less user friendly.

If I put my location in it gives me 2 local areas, both those are in an area where overnighters are getting moved on with threat of prosecution! There are signs saying no overninght parking.

All reply's very helpful. Has to be given a try. Going to check what the subscription fee is to improve the type of site we may want. Ta.

I used to call it fine4night as lots of the places have been swamped with vans and have now been strictly policed.
There are settings in the app though so choose carefully what you ask it to display.

One thing I would add to my previous comment is that when we rented our van, we tried to use it as if it were our own...i.e not really staying anywhere longer than two nights, a mix of sites and wild camping etc. To prevent us arriving somewhere unsuitable, as first-timers we would only go to a wild camping spot listed on park4night if it included photos from other users as well as some recent comments as to what the site was like. We will probably be a bit more adventurous in our own van, but as this was someone else property we erred on the side of caution.

Used in France Belgium Germany Austria Switzerland & Croatia. Excellent resource from emptying cassette to water fill up one night and more stop overs allied to Google maps this is brilliant only issue is you need a reasonable phone signal signal.

We use it, but you have to make your own mind up if you feel safe, a lot of places on it have been closed, and some are just a layby on the side of the road. 🙄
It can be useful but you need to read recent reviews, because its annoying when you go off route, and it's not that great. 🙂 Bob.

It’s another one in the armoury as far as we are concerned, just as search for sites, camperstop, campercontact et al are.

Most have appeared since we first started but we welcome them all.

You make a decision based on your own collective experiences. Most have live data bases, read your fellow travelers comments, have a look and then decide for yourselves.

If we are travelling through England (usually to catch or return from ferries) I’ll go on google maps and look for country pubs with real ale (tap on their web sites for details) within next day striking distance. Have a close look at the car park and surrounding area (you can see it all in detail). Then phone the pub and ask them if you can stay. Give your details etc. Never been refused.......yet!

Stayed at some really great pubs in nice locations just by asking. Don’t ask.......don’t get!
