Evening all, I am starting to think about August. We have a ferry-Dover/Calais booked for the Sunday 14th. Our 11 year old desperately wants to go to Paris and in the interests of keeping him interested in the motorhome, we want to be able to do this. Our aim is to finally arrive in Chenas outside Macon on the 22nd.
Any recommendations from the Fun experts will be greatly received!!

We have stayed at Camping de Paris near the Bois de Boulonge a couple of times. They run a shuttle bus to Port Maillot metro station where you can either get on the metro or walk to the Arc de Triomphe. From the Arc de Triomphe you can get a tourist bus to take you round Paris and you can get on and off at your leisure.

Not the cheapest site but it's well kept, lovely facilities, restaurant/bar & shop on site.

If going in August I would definitely book ahead.

There is another site near the Palace de Versaille but we've not stayed there so don't know how good it is.

We had 3 days and 2 nights in Paris - it was a fantastic trip. We stayed here and took the bus and metro into the centre.

Aim to go up the Eiffel Tower about an hour before dusk and enjoy watching the sun set and the lights come on.

Loads to see and do but don't aim to do too much at once - it can be overwhelming.

For some reason he really wants to go to the Louvre.💖

We didn't go to the Louvre - it was too busy and booked up etc. We went to the <Broken link removed> instead. Amazing art work and not nearly as crowded as the Louvre. Get the app and book before you enter but we booked 5 mins before to avoid the queue.

Paris is much quieter in early August as most residents are off on their holidays. You'll be competing for attractions with tourists.

IIf you're son is into culture, go to Versailles too https://www.chateauversailles.fr/ - it is incredible. But again, book your tickets in advance - these ones need to be booked earlier and allow yourself several hours and be prepared to walk around the gardens and model farm village which adds several km to your walking.

Just looked at our dates and just over €85 for 2 nights.

It is the most expensive site that we've been to but on balance, it saves time and effort and is so close to the center, it makes the rest of the trip easier to enjoy. We camped on the streets nearby for our third night in Paris but had a better idea of geography etc then and wasn't leaving the van unoccupied or in that location for more than 12 hrs.

Camping Sandaya, Maisons Lafitte. Train station not far away direct into city. We're already booked for July.

Stayed here May 27th just gone for 2 nights.
Nice site, some big pitches and as Will has said close to a station.
Great location for Paris on an island on the Seine.

We stayed on the yelloh campsite in Versailles a few years ago, lots of trees so good for shade, a small cafe and pool on site. Easy walk to the railway station which takes you directly to the Eiffel tower. Also an easy walk to the Palace of Versailles. As always, expensive, but I thought it was a good location.

We wanted to do Paris also, was thinking of parking up at Eurodisney carpark, they have a train station actually on the Disney site, has anyone done this?

He's fascinated by the Mona Lisa but more intriguing is the interest in an NFT of the Mona Lisa...I have not a clue about NFT's!! He's 11 🙈
This is brilliant. A few months ago he didn’t like the idea of the motorhome. Now he’s clearly seen the huge opportunity’s that are available. I think one day your son will want to get his own Motorhome . I can’t wait to see the travel blog on this one 👍🏻

When I was looking once I found a website that found places in folks gardens and stuff, and there was one in walking distance of the centre, looked very good but went off the idea , I will see if I can find it again, I did mention it on here at the time so it maybe searchable.
Worth a Google.

Although the Louvre is closed on Tuesdays, the Musée D’Orsay is closed on Mondays.
Full list here
He might need stilts to get to see the Mona Lisa, or else squeeze through the legs to the front. We only saw it on the screens of others ipads and phones!

Sorry if already mentioned as not read full thread….. just a reminder that 15th August is bank holiday in France and we have previously struggled to find somewhere if in a touristy area…. First time we didn’t even know and campsite receptionist was quite sharp with me “no, no spaces what do you expect on bank holiday?”…. We now avoid busy areas or pre book for that period.

We stayed in a gite near eurodisney it's a fair way out. I couldn't see the benefit compared to a nearer site if we were in the MH. I would make sure anyone going near Paris gets a critic air.

Hi
Already touring through France, haven't got this critic air thing, which is why the carpark at Disney was my thoughts
