Each year, at the same period , from april to the end of July , I'm in the starting blocks , at the ready, both eyes scrutinizing the road from one side to the other... if any in the distance coming by 3 or more, I call the gendarmes straight away!!
Been doing it up to now with success, but this time the danger came from the neighbour's fields!

They arrived, cut the fence, distroyed the poles, and got in.... They are now IN !

Tough times ahead

200 caravans and as many cars/vans to pull them !!!! GYPSIES !!!

I thought the French had better laws than us in the UK for dealing itinerants.
Good luck in getting them moved on.

good grief, 200?!! that sounds absolutely horrendous, and very intimidating, 'tis bad enough with just 20 or 30, my heart goes out to you having to deal with that..

Let me explain.... When you are invaded, be it on a private or a municipal field, this is the routine:
You have first a bailiff coming along as soon as the owner (or the Maire if on a public land) has filled a complaint at the Gendarmerie. He comes with the municipal Police. They take all the registrations, and then give the infos to the chosen lawyer representing the owner. Then at least a week later , there is a trial in order to expel them all. Then once the date of the expel is known by the owner, he has to wait that the prefet gives the order to the gendarmes to proceed. Now here we have another problem : you don't have 500 gendarmes in a normal gendarmerie. So this means about 24 to 48 hours to find them and get them to the place. BUT the prefet is .... "tenu par les couilles" (held by the balls that is!) by the human associations and usually doesn't give any order at all. And if he does... the gypsies will make sure they leave a ruined place behind them. So..... no, gendarmes can't do a thing without orders.... life's hard but only for honest people obviously!

So happy we have chosen next week end to meet up , at least I'll have some peaceful time , and will be thinking less!
 
So sorry for you, hope it gets sorted soon, this happened in our village once they arrived set up, the next day gendarmes and the Marie turned up they all got cleared away, I thought the law was 24 hours for them but obviously not scary! Good luck.
 
Get a shit spreader on a tractor as the fields need fertilised , tough luck if they get covered

what nationality are they ?

If I remember from previous posts the gendarmerie are no help.

That sounds very similar to our current system. Hopefully the new system where the police tell them to move immediately works much better.

Maybe your government will see how effective it is and implements something similar.

In the mean time you have my deepest sympathies. Must be a nightmare for you :(
 
Couple of JCB diggers and dig a 15ft wide by 10ft deep moat at the entrance.
It'll mean filling it in again but worth it just for the satisfaction and the look on their faces.
