Another Newbie question; when en route in your Motorhome does one pack glasses, cups, plates etc in boxes/bubble wrap? I’m thinking that with the state of some of our roads stuffs going get bounced out.

I couldn't be bothered with that. I use this stuff, cut lengths to fit either directly into a cupboard or into a basket. Line the bottom with some non slip stuff then make divisions to fit your stuff.

For plates we use a corner wire rack inside a locker, for mugs we use those handy bubble wrap bags that you get sometimes. You could make some very easily using bubble wrap and sellotape.
Glasses live in a lightweight plastic box individually wrapped in serviettes or kitchen roll
Have fun

In 70k miles only ever broke one glass, on a road near New Lanark like a cartrack.

Plates, glasses, mugs all have to get crammed into a single drawer. No space for anything else. I use dividers similar to those above. I also use some of those anti-slip drawer / shelf matting things to reduce rattles, and also as a wrap between stacked plates or between mugs and glasses that I have to stuff together. And yes I have glasses, just robust tumbler style ones, as I much prefer booze from that than those plastic / acrylic things.

Don't carry glass, many years of going to racetracks where glass is banned sorts that and plastic is lighter
Melamine plates, etc but proper mugs as boss cant have her tea in anything else, mugs on anti slip mat but rest just in cupboard
Only thing I've ever had fall out of an overhead locker on arrival is one of the bosses 'essential' handbags 👍

We have a mix of plastic and real glasses, we just stow them alternately. Plates don't seen to move much we might put the tea towel between different sizes/shapes of plates. SWMBO made a toweling bag for the oven tray that stops it rattling. Strategic bits of pipe insulation do the rest but seldom used nowadays as we have adapted our packing style.

Wine needs to be served in a proper glass. Charity shops are a good source for pairs of crystal glasses at silly prices. Should they break just replace them.

Note in 6 years (plus further 5 tugging) never had any plates or glasses break in transit. We do use "Corelle" plates which are nigh on indestructable.

We use the Ikea 'Corelle' style plates & dishes. We use real glasses stored in cut down wine boxes. Proper mugs, can't stand plastic!

Only time glasses get broken is one of us trips up the step between back and front of van!

bubble wrap for the trays in the oven to stop them rattling the rest are in the drawers and cupboards with no rattling but must ensure closed and locked otherwise have a habit of opening going around corners and includes the fridge ;-)

We have tin plates and plastic glasses. The only thing which can break are our coffee mugs.

Use all my clean wiping up cloths. Used to have all sorts of bits to stop rattles, then realised I could use wiping up cloths and have even more room in my cupboards. Learned the hard way to take things out carefully after mugs fell out onto my head once 😀

I use an old neoprene type laptop case to store grill pan and tray in as could hear it rattling away when oven closed.
Use he rubber non slip mats cut into smaller pieces between the different shapes of plates etc.

I just turn the radio up when the stuff starts rattling
I'm with you poistyrene holders for the mugs and then if a tea towel don't do the job my singing is brilliant along with the radio. ( as long as no one else has to hear it)

Non slip matting cut to size, same stuff under the hob and between oven shelves and then stick cushions in all the cupboards/drawers that have the potential to rattle or role about.

We carry a melamine set of plates BUT china mugs and tea-pot and glasses for the evening snifter or two. the mugs and glasses we wrap in tea towels and the tea-pot in a small towel. Works for us even on Portugese roads.

We now use lightweight stainless steel plates, bowls and mugs. And glasses for cold drinks / booze although drinking out of bottles seems to work well enough. Anti-slip mat and kitchen paper stops rattles.

I'm the same🙂

Do you also find that quite often the singer on the radio gets the words wrong - or is that just me? 🙂

I just throw everything in, never had anything break. Oh, I tell a lie. A jar of sausages fell out of a cupboard once. I haven't had any rattle issues, either.

Why do so many MHer's appear to be paranoid about rattles .As long as there isn't a snake on the end they are no big deal..🐍

They are annoying. I suspect my child’s incessant chatter, or the volume she likes the music at, render me immune. (Some days, I’d be grateful for a few instead!)

All our vehicles have had anti rattle devices - they're jolly useful, you can get the news on them or eg the Archers, listen to cassettes and/or CDs, oh - and also music. Used to have to buy them ourselves years ago but usually integral with the vehicle these days.

I remember my first brand new car came without a radio as it didn't make it go any better I didn't pay the extra. 5 years later part ex'd it for the new model, 4 doors and a radio cassette, electric windows were extra didn't make it go any better so..............I had windy ones. Noe all my vehicles are older and they all rattle it is part of their character. As I get older and my hearing is going I don't hear the rattles anyway 🙉
