Have used/defended the tunnel route for years as it was great for dogs, cheap multi-tickets, cite d'europe and not having to leave your vehicle, it appears they are doing their best to negate these advantages by others improving, security and over-charging.

I haven't noticed much of an increase in price for the tunnel..Going through in late march £113. Don't think that's expensive.BUSBY.

Unfortunately due to my wife being a carer for her dad, we are restricted to certain weeks of the year.
We are going away for 2 weeks end of July which is the busiest weekend of the year.
PO Ferry including Dog Lounge £330 return
Eurotunnel £550 Return

We have Tesco vouchers but even with them it's still more than the ferry.

We are also hoping to get away for the week of the 18th March

I used it last September. I posted photos in a thread last October. I was impressed with it.
Second that. Well thought out and a viable alternative to the tunnel plus it does give you time to relax especially if you have bit of mileage under your belt.
Even the hound enjoyed it and she is not keen on ferries in general.

Came back on December 10th, three weeks after going out of Dover. On the 2105 from Calais just us in the pet lounge. It seems that normal punters don't understand how it works as they wander in and think there is free coffee.... Luckily steward chucks them out.

On the way out there was just us and one other couple with two dogs on the 0950.

In November/December it was around £110 cheaper than the tunnel return.

I think the normal punters know exactly how it works and they just come in to get the free drinks. There needs to be some sort of code on the door.

Is there a Pet reception at Dover similar to Eurotunnel?
Tried to find some info but can’t see it.

No. All done at the ferry company check-in. They give you the reader for the chip.

You get a different hanger and a ticket to the lounge.
