We are still fathoming which way to go re. Tv in new Motorhome. If we buy an Oyster dish we can get one from Caravan Club shop with a 10% discount, but the dealer supplying our MH won’t fit it if they haven’t supplied it. The same applies with Motorhome Wi-Fi , the dealer will only fit if they supply.
I can understand their position but I am hesitant about letting someone that hasnt been recommended drill holes in the roof.
Any recommendations please, preferably North York’s/East Riding/North Lincs.

Ask yourself first if you really need one.
Ask
How much telly do we watch? , if you are just a casual watcher, you may not need a full sat set up, plenty of choices of firesticks , amazon etc. Or just have a radio for news and music.
What type of programmes? If u just want rainy day movies then use dvd player and tv
Do you travel abroad and for how long? This is where sat tv comes in handy , but consider cost if you are only going for a few weeks a year.
if you are travelling for the sun do you need a tv at all? You wont want to be sitting inside a van watching tv in the heat
we use a good tv , avtec, with an integral dvd and an arial that plugs in that cost £15 on amazon.
Great little thing , loads of channels, but we hardly use it.
Removed the dome from our moho, very glad not to have it , they are weighty and bulky and you will need holes drilled unfortunately.
hope this helps…

worth every penny!!!

It's not difficult to do it yourself, just takes a bit of planning. The only hole you need to drill is for the cables, which are covered with a neat little cable gland entry. Everything else is secured using a decent adhesive .... I used one from the sikafkex range after contacting their tech dept to identify the most suitable adhesive, but other funsters have used different makes.
PS - use black adhesive at aesthetically it doesn't go green and mouldy like white adhesive does, unless of course you clean it regularly. Remember to mask the area so you get a neat finish on the roof

Also think where you will be touring, because if it’s in the eu a satellite dish would be better because you would be limited with data usage for streaming.

As someone else has already said in another thread, you can buy a lot of PAYG streaming for the price of an Oyster dish.

And the the weight is a lot less. :giggle:

Again my P.A Speve needs a well deserved thank you for the heads up! :ROFLMAO:

Unfortunately Casper46 a lot of dealers won't fit unless you buy the system from them but if you go down the satellite route (specifically an Oyster obviosuly) then please either give me a call on 01858575928 or email anthony@oystersat-tech.co.uk and I'll happily give you a list of dealers close to your location.

You can indeed, unfortunately watching TV through the internet is a pain in the rear compared to watching it on Freesat. I use both but only use the internet for Prime/Netflix/etc.

I agree and if you don’t have or cannot get internet (no signal) you need a good digital antenna or sat dish, even more so if roaming charges stay capped whilst in EU it will limit your options not having a sat dish😊

Rhino Installs seem to have good reports, their details are in the Reviews section on the top line and may be worth a look at if in the correct area for you.
I used Phil from Rhino installs a few times when he was mobile. He does good work and I would be happy to use him again

Thanks everyone for your input. The sat fitting is organised, I now need a new 12v tv. Reading postings about tv’s it will probably be a Cello as I’m fed up of no programme guide on our little Avtex.
Am I correct that I can view a Smart TV through the Sat Dish, but I can also connect to the internet by a hot spot on my phone?
Please don’t blind me with science as I don’t understand the jargon.

In terms of smart tv I am assuming you mean for internet and channels such as Netflix etc, you will need an internet connection

Thank you both.
We don’t watch Netflix or anything similar, we have a smart tv at home and I like being able to use catch up to see programmes that I have missed in the last week. I assume that I can’t do that on an ‘ordinary’ tv.

Doubtful🤔

I would recommend Rob at Auto-Mate UK as he fitted our solar panels and Oyster Cytrac system. Very neat install and is based in Lincolnshire about 5 miles from Brownhills MoHo's at Newark on Trent.
