Can I suggest you take a look at sniper tv's as an alternative to avtex and cello, i just bought a 24 inch model, and am very happy with it, full HD (1080P) built in DVD two HDMI inputs, Bluetooth, freeview, satellite, usb, 12/24volt. I have it connected to a Sky HD box and the firestick at the moment both work well. I'm currently parked near a very large tree so am using the firestick but the oyster satellite works well as long as it can see the satellite and data roaming abroad may become a real issue for some whilst touring in Europe.

Did you get in touch with Anthony OysterTech ,davidathomas42 ….?
He’ll be able to guide you as to what you may need to update, etc.(y)
Not yet. I figured im better off getting the van first and plugging everything in before I ask questions I may already have the answer for at that point.

Hopefully it just spins up and gives me all the German porn channels in the world lol

Hi all,

I’m off on holiday this week but my colleague Pay is available in the office today and tomorrow until 5pm so if you give the office a call on 01858575928 then I’m sure he’ll be able to help.

No. Tried all sorts except paying a pro.

Me new van with the improvement of WiFi and smart TV’s I’ve just stuck to the Netflix type through my work iPad as a hotspot. Looking at getting a proper WiFi system set up though next so I have stronger signal off grid

I would highly recommend going to see Anthony at Oyster Tech, he's a really nice guy and will not try and sell you anything you don't need, he knows his stuff and the rates are reasonable, you can stay over in the car park or there is a pub stop not far away.

Cheers mate, i kind of thought the oyster was redundant technology these days. I wonder do you get a better signal with a router in the van?

My thoughts is that a dedicated large Ariel on the roof should be many times better than the tiny piece of metal crammed into an iPhone next to all sorts of other tech inside the motorhome out of line of sight of anything.

I've been living full time in my motorhome for 2 1/2 years now, the only issue I've found with streaming tv is sometimes you will find your self in an area where there is little or no signal, so consequently I have two devices on two different networks, one on EE and one on O2 (Tesco sim) I also have a satellite dish and I find this gives a better picture then streaming most of the time, it also allows me to record live events should I wish too. I don’t have an external antenna for the devices but haven't really needed it i'm currently getting 118 Mbs down and 22.8 up on the EE sim in Dorset.

I fitted an external aerial for Internet and to be honest, it was a waste of time. I get the same signal strength as the phone under any circumstances. I just use an old Android tablet with a 4g sim as a hotspot.
The antenna in a mobile phone is actually quite good as its a copper track arranged in a spiral, which if straightened out would be several times the length of the phone.
Line of sight is overstated too. There is significant reflection of mobile signals from buildings, trees etc.
Sometimes you just can't get a signal.
I do have a satellite system, so when I can, I try to arrange my parking to have a clear view of the sky in the required direction. It's not an oyster though, it's a snipe 2, which is 8 years old and on the second van now.
