We inherited an Oyster control box when we bought our Hymer. We don’t watch or have a TV so it’s going spare.
Is it worth anything or should I just scrap it?

A picture will help but I would think it would be useful to some people as a spare 👍

Certainly will be useful to someone
Be good if you find the model number or put a photo of it on here.

If you are chucking it,I'll take it as it's an older system the same as mine.

I’d leave it in for when/if you sell the van!👍

I have no intention of selling the van but in any case the dish was removed by the previous owners and I've ripped out all the other gubbins. I will probably remove the TV aerial too when I get a chance.

I'll bear that in mind if no one can tell me whether or not it's worth anything.

It's about 2008 vintage, it's a combined sat controller & receiver.
Shame to thow it away when it could be useful to a Funster.

It's got a SCART socket and composite video. I can't think anyone's going to pay good money for old analogue kit, unless they are desperate for a spare. Even then, they'd probably be better off replacing with something modern and digital.

A brand new Oyster high definition Receiver costs £380 inc VAT
You have a standard definition Oyster receiver however it is an S8 which was the last standard def receiver to be offered by us so it's still supported, fully updatable and will work without issue on Oyster systems with the digital cable harness (Note: Not Vision I or Vision II Systems). The only problem is that it doesn't have a HD tuner inside which mean that if the standard def signals ever get turned off on Astra 2 (unlikely any time soon) then it will no longer be able to automatically lock to that satellite.

Not sure how much you could get for it but the right person would probably pay £150-200 for it.

Thanks. That “right person” sounds like they might be a unicorn.
