Overnight stopovers Manchester. (1 Viewer)

Our son has recently moved from London to Manchester (Sale).
SWIMBO and l want to go up to see him and our new grandson next week.
We have never been there before and son has said no parking for MH near him so we are looking for either a campsite or stopover nearby, preferably on or near a public transport route.
Any local help or advice would be greatly appreciated.

We stayed at Burrs Country Park it's a Caravan Club site just outside Bury and got tram into centre - it's a good mile from site to Bury station nice site but gets full over weekends

Ideally you want to be south of Manchester, as Sale is, for travelling.Burrs Park is due north but may be your best bet as a quick internet search does not bring up many options to the south that have transport links.

is the closest I can see and is in Timperley which has a train/Metro line into Manchester passing through Sale

Delamere Forest C&CC site is lovely and on the A556 about 20-30 mins from Sale and an easy ride mostly dual carriageway. We stayed here in July and found it to be a really lovely little campsite with very friendly warden.
