Our ferry arrives into Santander at 5.30pm on a Saturday night, so probably off and on the road about 7pm. We want to get to Altea on Sunday afternoon so looking for an overnight stop on the way. Thought Burgos looked doable, about 2 and a bit hours away, any site or aire recommendations? Travelling in September.
thanks
Bill

We have stopped at the municipal site in Burgos. Ok for one night. Loo's are a bit grim though.

The town is quite nice and a pleasant walk in along the river.

There is a site at Burgos but you would need to check the time that it’s reception is open until, I believe it’s around 10 pm or used to be.

I stayed on the aire just north of the town centre, Campercontact 30077, back in May 2019. It was pretty busy then - felt a bit like a sardina :giggle:
City centre about 20 min walk, El Cid is buried in the cathedral, worth a visit(y)

Site in Burgos had no bourne facilities last year when we visited Burgos but it was ok for us as we didn’t need to fill or dump. Palencia site is excellent, all free even the levy and you only pay for the lovely shower facilities. Also you can clean your Moho even the roof as they have scaffolding for you to use, just use their petrol station across the road to fill up on reasonably priced diesel as a thank you.

We've stopped at the aire in Burgos a few times found it ok. Big supermarket over the road and 15-20 minute walk to the cathedral worth a look.

Try Torquemada, free aire, next to church, free water, public weighbridge just up the sreet, if you dare. Always use that aire, if you turn up late at night, there is always somewhere to park.

We used Camping De Haro. But that was over12 years ago.? The CCC had it listed as a "stopover".

The Aire in Burgos (Campercontact 30077) is a good size and close to a good supermarket. It no longer has any fresh water or elsan dump, but you can dump your grey waste. It is a convenient place to stop.

Or travel a bit further and stop at the excellent new Aire at Palencia (Campercontact 62523) with full facilities. It is free to stop, but you have to pay for EHU and water. You get the water for free if you fill up with diesel in the garage opposite (which owns the Aire), and the fuel prices were competitive when we were there. Short walk through the park to the town centre with shops and restaurants

And stock on the Rioja while there !
Anyhow. If anyone does use it and finds my 2 Jacksons Bread crate bottoms I used to park the R-V on. Can I have them Back?. (y)

Lovely ACSI site at Castrojeriz. Lovely welcoming people, senor has a great sense of humour and senora insisted we take some fresh fruit with us when we left. We will definitely return. They also take birds of prey tours. Lovely place. There is a good laundry and a nice little cafe & shop. Village is also nice and interesting, on the Camino de Santiago.
