Morning all. So, we are booked on a ferry (not P&O) Holyhead to Dublin on 15th April. A 2.10 departure means that we will probably leave from Southampton the afternoon before with a view to stopping somewhere north and west of Birmingham. Any suggestions for a peaceful overnight stop welcomed.

Likewise, once we're in Ireland the plan is to head north into NI. We're travelling in convoy with our daughter and her husband plus two children under 6 so we're also looking for recommendations of places to anchor up that are not too far from Dublin - say a couple of hours or so. Any suggestions?

I would go a bit more and stop just over the border. The Sun Inn by Llangollen does stops and good food.

The A5 will be slightly more time but is shorter and a much nicer journey IMO.

Rhug shop lets you stop on their car park too which is about 40 minutes further.

Don't get confused by the Sun at Llangollen because that's in the town without any parking, it's The Sun at Trevor.
