Since the opening of the A3 Hindhead Tunnel in July 2010, the Old A3 has been closed and returned to nature.
This leaves the Devil's Punch Bowl car park away from the busy A3 making a handy stop-over for anyone heading to or from Portsmouth.
Going south towards Portsmouth, go through the tunnel and take the 1st exit immediately after the tunnel. Go right at the next two roundabouts heading towards Hindhead. Straight across the roundabout by the Total station (24hrs as I write) towards a double roundabout with pedestrian lights. Across here into a partly pedestrianised road heading to the National Trust's café, the Devil's Punch Bowl Hotel and Barons of Hindhead.
The car park is on your left with plenty of room to turn the largest motorhome and there's no barrier. The car park is pay and display during the day so bear that in mind also there will be people walking their dogs from about 05:30 but it's worth getting up early to admire the stunning view.
