Would just like to know from those in the know about overnight parking in Newhaven? I know there is a site opposite the port, would like to know if there is any problems with parking over night.

We are just about to depart Newhaven - we stayed on the £10 per night sea front park up.

plan to stay the night before departureThe last time we went it was OK to park in the ferry car park providing you were on the next crossing.
Is there plenty of spaces or is it packed?Headlines - plonker books ferry on wrong day !!
i wonder what kind of plonker would book a ferry to France on the 24th March and then think the ferry is on the 23rd March, so is just about to leave for an overnighter near Eastbourne .... of course Mrs Plonker is involved because she also had all the details. Thankfully for The Plonker...www.motorhomefun.co.uk
We are just about to depart Newhaven - we stayed on the £10 per night ( for two nights !) sea front park up. We felt perfectly safe and would def stay there again!
Empty. It would probably take 200 motorhomes. Check the photos. We parked parallel to the sea on hard standing. I think parking slightly at an angle would be better as the wind wouldn't impact as much. Definitely worth considering in my opinion. Is there plenty of spaces or is it packed?
It's on the seafront but perhaps not where you think. If you check the link you will see where it is. There's a pub serving what looks like decent food aswell about 50 yards away from the park up.On the sea front at Newhaven? I've never seen that, just followed the signs to the port. It could be handy now Tesco are reducing the coupons for the tunnel, that crossing back in contention for us.

Yes she is fine now, she is just lining up the Bailey & Gins to pack in the MH for the start of our 90 DaysOlivia sobered up yet Bob?
Was there somebody there to move the height barrier?
Yes, there is someone living there in his van. He asked us what time we were leaving when we arrived. His van is about 20 yards from the barrier, so even if he slept in, it would only be a 5 min wait!!I have a problem what time do the barrier go up? I have a ferry to catch at 7am 26th Mar

Thanks. We only live about 25 miles away from Newhaven and were thinking of spending a couple of days by the seaside. May also use the ferry if we do not get a good deal from the tunnel for our autumn trip.Yes, there is someone living there in his van. He asked us what time we were leaving when we arrived. If you mention to him the time if your ferry, he will either say yes or no I'm pretty sure! There is also a bit of a turning circle just outside the parking area, you could even just stay there at a pinch if you were concerned.
If you need to be there for a 7am ferry and assuming you need to be there 90 mins before, (didn't realise they ran at that time) he might just leave the barrier unlocked for you to move yourself?
